Tried the months free trial which i recently finished. Service very patchy and I live in a big City were I have had no issues with other providers, including Three who they piggy back on. App is also a lot to be desired and they charged me after the free trial!!! They need a lot of improvement before I would consider going back.

I went with these guys a while ago and it's dreadful! I got 2 for my kids, activated one, tried it for a few days then threw them in the bin.

Cons
1) customer service is non existent
2) you can only make calls on a data connection VOIP - no data or low signal area = no calls
3) you have to download their app to make calls which was littered with buttons to buy add-ons. DO NOT GIVE THIS TO KIDS!
3) you must have an active debit or credit card linked so it's easy for kids to use up your money. You can't cancel the card as it must have one card active at all times. In the end I had to cancel my card and get a new one.

As soon as I did that lo and behold customer service contact me where before it was impossible to get hold of them.

Pros
I've already made the mistake so I can warn other people off!

If anything has changed since last year, feel free to correct me and I'll be happy to receive it. Otherwise just google freedompop and see for yourself.

don't they do something stupid like having to use an app to send text messages seen some dodgy stuff in the massive sim free thread but getting confused with all the others now like Id this would be perfect for my daughter but don't want any hassle from it

ok as I was typing all that above showed up won't be touching this

Luckily I tried it first before transferring anything as I believe it would have been impossible.
#12
that's good. imagine otherwise lol so u have to use a app to make a call? omg

Yes that's right! It's basically just a poor version of Viber and the million other voip apps

Ps machomansavage I did vote cold and that's not a reflection on you as you only spotted something that looks good. It looked great to me too lol I paid something like £5 each per card too

Even with good signal I found it impossible to make calls.
Paying extra for their premium voice service can help, but only for outgoing calls, so if anyone tries calling you you won't necessarily receive the call.

Rubbish service, even if it was free.

few things on this, if you go with it, firstly make sure you uncheck the premium service, its £3.99 on top free for the first month, second, they charge £4.99 to port a number across oddly its not on the main page when you pick a number, they will refund it if you ask to cancel, thirdly and again not something that is immediately obvious you have to text and possibly call from their own app on ios and android. I went with them, wish I hadn't in the process of trying to get it sorted to move out, normally I read all of the reviews on here and elsewhere but think I picked the ones with good feedback when I looked, there is plenty of comments if you dig deep, but they normally get lost in the free sim offers.

Absolutely carp service.
Cancelled mine yesterday evening. It took about half an hour to find the unsubscribe at the bottom of a page in font size 2!
Sorry OP have had to vote it cold because even free it would not be a deal

BBC Click had a little segment about these guys this week, how they are trying to 'revolutionise' mobile networks in the UK, even had a little interview with the CEO.

For kids, I'd say ID Mobile with that shockproof thing or just GiffGaff may be best. I heard a lot about FreedomPop as well, looks good on the surface but many compromises and shortfalls.
