The FreeLoader for the Wii (which enables you to play imported games such as Super Smash Brothers Brawl) is now available to order on Play.com

It's out of stock at the moment, but I'm pretty sure it won't be too long a wait for new stock to arrive, and the free delivery is worth it!

Taken from Play.com :-

Play ANY region of Wii or GameCube game on ANY Wii
Easy to use
No console modification required
Does not invalidate warranty
Play games never released in your region
Play local games on your imported console
100% unofficial - Not endorsed by Nintendo
Review

With FreeLoader for Wii, you can play ANY region of game on your UK Wii!

FreeLoader for Wii is really easy to use. Simply insert your FreeLoader for Wii disc and load it in the usual way. When the drive stops, eject the FreeLoader for Wii disc and insert the game, which then loads and plays just like it would on its own region of Wii. It's as simple as that! FreeLoader for Wii is 100% unofficial, and requires no modifications to your console. As well as letting you play Wii games from all regions, FreeLoader for Wii also works with imported GameCube games when played on your Wii.

I think that article is about the gamecube freeloader when used on the wii, which was then broken by firmware 3.0 update. Also that article is from august 07, and the wii freeloader has only just come out.

Yep, thats the GCN freeloader that was blocked in an old firmware update, the wii mode disc is still working.
#7
Indeed this is the NEW freeloader for the Wii.
#8
Yes it is, that refers to the GC Freeloader which was blocked in the same way as the WiiKey Config disc and going from what I know of the Wii's architecture, I doubt they will be able to block this for a while.

You want this disc if your Wii isn't chipped, if only for Manhunt 2 and No More Heroes.

If you have someone's friend code, you won't have any problems, but for Random batttles, you will be battling Americans so you will suffer a bit of lag during random play.

I am going to order

does anyone know a site that ships to UK... where i can order SSB:Brawl
#15
playasia.com and yesasia.com

Yesasia pay 7% quidco and there is also a voucher for $5 off. So it comes in at $48.36 with voucher and quidco around £24. It costs $49.99 plus sales tax (around 6%) from shops in the US.

There is also no VAT/Import duty for the UK as they reship it from the UK after it comes from Hong Kong! Usually takes about a week to arrive.

Is this legal?

Seems illegal, but who cares and no one knows..:p
#19
Not illegal no - Datel have been selling these things for a very long time. They are just not official.
#20
it will also let me use online right (Brawl)
#21
Questions questions questions. Yes it will. Might not work so great doing random battles. Find a good European based games website. Trade some friend codes with other importers and have fun.

Is this legal?

No of course not. Nothing illegal about it at all. Play aren't stupid! :w00t:

Importing the games isn't illegal either. HOWEVER! What's not mentioned above is that most Playasia games are subject to customs duty. You may get lucky though.
#23
The disc isn't illegal as it doesn't modify anything on the wii. It just runs a script that allows you to run imported game. It doesn't load or save anything permanently to your memory. It is sold as a game for the wii and it is pretty much that ... (almost)
#24
I don't think Modifying your Wii is illegal either... just invalidates your warranty.... Although don't quote me on that.

Downloading ISOs of games maybe illegal

Movietyme?

Haven't checked around to see who's cheapest, but they're normally reasonably priced and have great service unlike certain Canadian retailers I could mention... *cough*DVDBoxoffice*cough*.

Yes but that has nothing to do with the Freeloader disc.

It's illegal to modify a console to circumvent copy protection now in most countries.

It's not copy protection.

It's region coding.

Then how come Sony won the court case about playing imported games on your PS3 is illegal?

Its also illegal to import the PS3 hardware...

How is this a hot deal?

I suppose the free postage makes it an ok deal - same price as walking into town and pickin it up, rather than paying the £12-£15 it's costing online.

Where is this being sold on the high street?

I fully understand that. I was referring to their point about modding, not the use of Freeloader software.

I just can't help but feel there's an awful lot of disinformation which has lead to confusion about the bargain posted.

The Wii and Gamecube are made by Nintendo - not Sony.

Game won't stock it as they don't sell imported games, but Gamestation might, as I know someone who purchased the Gamecube freeloader from them.

Your best bet would be to check out your local independant video game store.

Why does that matter? Are you saying Sony are allowed to say that no one is allowed to import 3rd party Playstation games?
