Misleading to call it Freesat, it wont have the Freesat EPG, it's free to air satellite

People get Free to Air and Freesat mixed up;

The program guide (EPG) is downloaded via a tv channel

Due to licensing issues or whatever Free to Air satellite only has 'now and next' displays of programs and not a full EPG.

Freesat (from Sky?) includes a full EPG.

Just to confuse you - I control my Free to Air Satelite box with my old analogue DVD / HDD box - this downloads a partial satelite EPG from analogue ITV (all the main channels) so I can see what's coming on and set programs to record when I want ...

This is a decent option for those who can't receive Freeview and don't want to get in to bed with Sky.

Freesat is a trade name, a joint venture between BBC & ITV I think, a Freesat only box will only receive the channels they choose to include on their electronic programme guide (EPG). Sky also do a (subscription free) similar thing which I'm sure they used to call freesat but dont any more.
A free to air box will pick up anything thrown at it by the satellite beams, whether you can view it (unscrambled) or not, but I dont think will have a programme guide Google it!
