You don't see these very often nowadays, but are great for older TV's and video recorders that don't have a scart socket. Can also be used even if they do have a scart socket.

With this freeview receiver, the signal is delivered to the TV or video recorder through the conventional aerial (RF) socket.

For all those people looking for a Freeview box with an RF modulator, Sainsburys have one at £39.99 ( probably slightly less with the VAT change). Personally, I would save up my money towards a TV with a SCART socket...

I honestly don't know which is the best bargain. Lowest price is no good if it's a **** STB. Personally I'll save the money for a TV with digital built-in.

However, if it's this tvonics STB at Asda (and Netto) then they have a decent enough reputation and the prices are well below the £39 store price.

But was it one with an RF modulator? TBH though I think Tvonics should have icluded the Scart option on this as well as to buy this I want to feel that I can use it on different TV's in the future and get the best pic quality out of it.

You may be right - think it has SCART output only - there's the usual throughput of the analogue signal to the TV, but I don'd think it does digital. How old is your TV if it doesn't have SCART?? Is it colour ?? :-D

That'll be one with RF loopthough only ;-)

An RF modulator to allow the TV to receive the signal through the aerial/RF socket will cost an additional £29.99
