Really want to buy freeview high def, but unsure of what to do. I really would like a pvr but they are not very good at the moment. I was watching this on qvc and it looked o.k but is it worth £120, mmm:?

Freeview HD isn't available everywhere yet, so you may buy the box & still not get HD.

The box cannot record....which is a negative for me.....

You can get BBC iPlayer in HD on it.....BUT...you need a fast Internet connection & either have it within range of your router or use a wifi dongle......so why not simply watch the HD content directly on my PC....

Yes it looks a decent bit of kit....but as it's early days I think overpriced....give it 6 months & these will probably have dropped to around £60

The bonus is that at some point you will be able to buy a top up card & watch Sky Sports without a Sky dish

Rather spend a little bit more and get a Humax

Who hasn't got a fast enough connection for BBC iPlayer?.. well if you haven't that will be just the same on the PC as well as on this, so you simply don't have it either way, its definitely NOT a reason why this isn't a good idea!

If you like relaxing for the evening on an office chair in front of a 19" PC or on a small laptop in the corner of a bedroom or office, then the PC option is ideal - The rest of the world would want the better option of sitting in front of a 40" LCD on a sofa with feet up - that's self evident why this is so desirable!
Who needs to be in range of a router or use wifi? Use Powerline ethernet. Simple.

I suspect these types of boxes are going to be monumentally popular, once the price begins to drop

Over-priced, these will be about £40/£50 in a few months time.

Freeview HD isn't available in most of the country.

With iPlayer you don't need to record.

I thought this was a great deal considering the write-ups its been getting, and the fact it has a Pay TV slot, but then I realised QVC aren't shipping this til 21st June! No good if you want to watch all of the World Cup in HD!
