Factor in the cost of fuel driving there or getting the bus/taxi there, then the additional cost of other groceries you buy "just because you're there now" and thats an expensive pineapple.

Only a good deal if you walk there and buy nothing else whilst you're there.

Neutral.

I got one from LIDL for 49p. I thought, bar-gain!

When I peeled it I was at first greeted with a pleasant sweet taste.

Unfortunately this soon turned into stinging-acid tongue-shredding hell :(

Alsi do not have sell by dates ..maybe you mistook it for a delivery date, which would be a delivery to either a distrobution centre Aldi own or the store.

There are 2 areas they grow melons in Spain (where they are supplied from ) The ones you had would have been grown in Plastic tunnels and are almost forced grown, Just started are the fruit from Murcia which is grown naturally outside.

LIDl are able to run with market deals and can put on the shelf quicker than Aldi, they may get a good deal from a supplier and run it for a few days locally, I noticed Lidl in my area where same price as Aldi but a size 5 not a small size 9 as in ALDI

Always eat Pineapple at room temprature to enjoy its full flavour, so many people put them in cool places even fridges ! they are grown in the tropics and are not used to cold weather ... let them live in the warm and they will eat superb.

I'm not gonna bother taking my temperature just to eat a pineapple :

I buy fruit from Aldi and have never been diapointed.

Most days our local Aldi runs out of the fruit that is on offer. Atleast we know ours is fresh every day

ALDI pineapples are not bad.

Missus knows her pineapples. Got a few acres of pineapple plantation back in LOS.

She thought they were pretty good, one was nice and sweet how she liked it and one was a bit sharp how I like them.

All in not a bad pineapple

we've had a couple of these babies now and they've been lovely. we always let them ripen a bit before eating em and ALWAYS at room temp'. they're ace pineapples are.
