Cold votes will becoming from people who think the steaks are from BATTERY COWS :whistling:
As for the normal price ,online their finest scottish sirloin steak is £17.98p per kilo !

Great price, voted hot.
People should not vote cold just to air their personal dislikes
or lifestyles.
#5
here's heat this is a great deal:thumbsup:
#6
Good price, but my gut feeling is there will be none at the Eastbourne store.

Had 5 on display in Stafford, I had 3. Was tempted by the others but was also buying a pork leg joint so didn't want to be greedy! TBH the pork at £2.99/kg seems a better deal to me, but depends what animal you fancy devouring!

Is this nationwide?

Nice one. More Steak deals :)
Always prefer to get meat from the butchers counter as it doesn't seem so artificially inflated with water.

hmm should I go for supermarket steak, ive been stung so many times with poor quality meat
#16
I have always had a good serloin and ribeye from the deli counter at tesco,

I might go after work
#17
Anyone actually tasted this? Knowing Tesco's methods of procuring meat, I do wonder if it's £7.99 a kilo for a reason......
#18
I just got a kilo from the Brislington store. :p
They had two lumps on sale, the first looked Nasty with a capital 'N'. The second was a fresh lump, which I made the guy cut mine from.

I would never buy meat from the deli counter unless I can see what I am getting, so that rules out pre-packed stuff for me!

The "finest' steaks are more expensive because it's been hung and allowed to mature, therefore it tastes better. Steaks which are bright red aren't going to taste as good, not because it isn't quality meat itself, but because it hasn't been hung and matured. mind you 7.99/kg is still a decent price.
#20
Hot deal, if only I had a proper Tesco's near me :-(
#21
Great deal, the day before it was £9.99 per KG when we boguht it, then the next day we saw it was down! Oh well we had it last night, chicken fried steak is how we had it. Was nice, but the piece we got was very fatty. Still cant go wrong. I tried to find a disposable BBq to cook it actually as the Sun makes me want a BBQ, but none to be found in my tesco:thumbsup:
#22
Anybody know when the deal ends?
just i need some for next weekend

Maybe a silly question... but what;s to stop you from buying this and hanging the steak and maturing it yourself?

Or can you not do this in ur kitchen?

It is hung/matured while still on the bone, before it is cut up.
#25
Give it a go.
I'd say the answer would be on Wikipedia though.

You would need to hang it in a chiller. I also think it is necessary to hang the whole carcass?

I am LOL at the thought of trying to light a micro sized bbq in what is basically the middle of winter!

Was looking at BBQs this weekend, the last one got ditched when we moved. I spent Saturday in a beer garden too, love being outside in the sun :)

Apart from the major hassle factor you could but you can only do it you buy the whole side or whatever cut cos it wouldn't work with individual steaks. I'm sure there's instructions out there on the web on how to do it in your own fridge.

Thx for the responses.
I have a clearer idea of what I'm paying for on occasion for when i do buy "matured" beef now :)
