Didnt think Zavvi were taking online orders with the supplier/woollworths issue that happening so doubt their offer will be available from them for some time making this a good alternative.
The recent amazon offer has expired also making this a good alternative.
Once youve factored in petrol, parking etc online beats highstreet anyday making this a good alternative.
Quidco available potentially knocking £2 off this price.

This site is really not the place it once was.
I might as well vote everything cold because inevitably one day (not necessarily soon but one day) anything at all i want to buy will be cheaper from some other place...

Yeah, we want to replace our (battered) individual boxsets with the big box at some point...wait for it to fall a few more quid yet though, me thinks :)

Hot vote from me (that's if I've done it right!)

Great price - I ended up paying an extra £10 last weekend in HMV as time was running out, to get it in time for christmas..
#12
Voted Cold,

49.99 with Vat off at Zavvi Instore. Plus students/tribe/virgin credit card. Pretty sure HMV did it this cheap at some point too.
#13
If you can wait until January, these are probably guaranteed to be cheaper! Especially from Zavvi as they're likely to go out of business, and will have a closing down sale. I expect probably another 10-20% off this boxset when they do.
#14
Yeah in Zavvi for £49.99. Was loads and loads in the trafford centre when i went yesterday. There was also another version which i hadnt seen before. It was red and was set out differently inside. Does anyone know what the difference is between the two? They were both the same price.
#15
Will it go any cheaper - I will wait and see
#16
You get the same deal instore at Tesco's

Picked on up yesterday.

Voted hot as this is a great deal for a 10 series box set, this has only just started to become this price over the past few months, last christmas it was still £100! And I thought that was a bargain :?

Don't just vote cold cause it's been 'about' before, the prices all went up and if some people can't get to a store, and some people hate the hassle of a store too, so another hot deal JasonMason, have some rep for all the hard work you do

Your welcome ;-) You've found me many a bargains, as has the many other people on here that take time to post a deal ( made me spend, but save a fortune this christmas :p )

Thank you to each and every one of you :santa:

Wouldn't surprise me if the publishers decide to release Blu-Ray versions of this in the near future as much better quality but who knows.

Bought mine from Zavvi but also saw it in in our local Asda at £50 less VAT difference yesterday.

Agree! You have been able to get this for about £50 for ages from almost every shop selling it! It has appeared on here over and over again at the same price. Cold from me.

Its appeared a number of time, ranging from £117 all the way down to £59.
Its only recently dropped to the £50 range in the past two weeks so hardly 'ages' or 'over and over' as stated.

It was initially found for under £50 in September at Zavvi, it has since been available from Amazon, HMV and Asda for this price. This is the fifth retailer this 'deal' has been spotted at over a period of three months. Maybe I should have put 'months' and 'over and over and over and over' then my statement would have been more accurate :santa:.

It has never been around £50 on amazon, hmv or asda, certainly not for "ages"

It has been available from all three and as I have already said it was posted as a deal at Zavvi in September. I'm not arguing about what timespan can be fairly described as ages, I was merely agreeing with Vibeone's point that this is just normal pricing. All Play has done is followed the rest of this market rather slowly. It is rather annoying that everyone on this forum moans about cold votes with no explanation but when you have the courtesy to justify yourself you get responses like "whatever".

Actually it was whatever:w00t:

Still a rubbish reason for voting cold, As i type the posting for the Play.com sale is at 566 degrees, HMV sale is at 823 degrees.
Do you really think that a very very large portion of the sale items have not been available at very similar prices previously in other sales or special offers??

This is a consumer forum, I vote something cold if I don't think it is a particularly good deal. On this occasion I voted cold because I have had several opportunities over the last couple of months to buy this item at this price so this deal was not outstanding to me. I think that is a valid reason for voting cold, maybe we should all vote hot for everything to be polite then this site will be of no value to anyone. In any case why on earth you care which way I vote I don't know. It is worth noting that the Play sale was cold a few weeks ago because they had advertised a sale whilst changing very few of their prices, I would suggest that now it is hot there might be some actual bargains there.
#36
The Play.com sale posting at the minute is hot, and nothing has been revealed as of yet, my point is that it has got heat and most of the items will be of a similar price throughout the year at other sales and places (similar to the Friends boxset steadily heading towards £50)
I actually dont care how you vote, i find it refreshing that you stated a reason for the cold vote, its a rubbish reason but a reason none the less.

The reason why I do vote cold if I don't think there is any outstanding bargain to be had is because I think this forum is a useful tool in increasing consumer power. Because this boxset has been available since September at this price, to me Play's recent price drop just highlights that they have overpriced it for the last 3 months. I find it useful when sales are posted on here with massive reductions unavailable elsewhere and they stand out because they are far hotter. I also find it useful on a hot deal if people state why they vote cold. If you look at the last 10 or 20 comments on the Play sale thread (left by people once the 'sale' has started and they have had a look at what is available), the vast majority have left negative comments about play bundling together old sale items with no new price drops. My point is that HUKD is useful to me in sorting out marketing hype and genuine value for money and it is a personal bugbear for me that Play continually disguise normal pricing as sale bargains.

How many times do you want me to say it has been available from Zavvi since September? That is 3 months not 4 weeks. Fair enough though if you missed out.
