Popular American sitcom FRIENDS first appeared on our screens back in 1994, to little fanfare. The show followed the lives of six twentysomething singles--Monica (Courtney Cox), Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow), Joey (Matt LeBlanc), Ross (David Schwimmer), and Chandler (Matthew Perry)--who occupied a trendy New York loft apartment. These were essentially six beautiful people who had probably never known a hard day's work in their lives, and whose every utterance was a well-crafted witticism. But despite their idealized lifestyles and perfectly coiffed hairdos, there was something annoyingly endearing about them. Viewers could easily relate to their struggles with work, sex, and relationships because these were universal struggles - albeit heightened for comedic effect. From early on it was clear that FRIENDS had successfully tapped into the zeitgeist of its time, and now, 10 series down the line, the show's broad appeal continues to live on in popular culture. This box set contains every episode from series 1 through 10.

I can't wait. They have flogged this particular dead horse long enough. It's about as funny as a really hard kick in the knackers. Awful, awful programme, starring complete a********.

+1. About as funny as a dead deer lying in the road. Poor thing.

Ooh I hate the TV show friends, I know what i'll do, whenever a deal for the show is posted i'll open the thread and add my distaste for it in there.

Really, if you don't like the show, why open the thread and comment?

Because if you vote cold you should give a reason.

Yes, because 'not liking something' is a terrific reason to vote a deal cold. Sigh.

im gonna buy this one day.. long after they stop showing it on E4, when no one will care about friends like bottom or one foot in the grave or keeping up appearances or only fools and horses, i`ll be buying the boxset for a pound from poundland..

I voted cold beacuse not only do i hate the damn programme, I think £40 for the boxset is ridiculous when, like many have said, it's on TV two-hundred times a day.

cant wait for it to leave channel 4... hopefully they'll fill the void with some half decent HD content

Way to over exagerate. Firstly it's only on one/two channels three or four times a day and lots of episodes are cut due to them being broadcast early in the day. Then the quality isn't as good and it has adverts in between and what if they're currently showing season 7 and you want to watch an earlier season, do you wait for it to cycle round again?

I'm pretty sure that £40 for a 40 disc box set without these problems is cracking value.

dont forget episodes on E4 are shortened versions because of commercials normal length episodes are 30 mins and on E4 they are roughly 20 mins.

Zavvi currently offering 6% Qudico cashback on DVDs compared to The Hut's 3%.

£40 for 236 episodes across 10 seasons? Works out at 17p an episode. Seems pretty good value to me. Great show, although definately on its last legs TV wise. Shame about all the negativity in here, if you dont like move on. We are here for deals and not opinions.

haha at everyone who's like "CRAP PROGRAME"

The only reason E4 rerun it so much, is because it STILL gets a hell of a lot more viewers than alot of the new shows coming out, even after the "100th rerun"

It's by far one of the best comedy's ever!

hot!

Absolutely bloody right.

It gets tiring whenever a Friends item pops up and people besmirch it simply because they don't like it and the majority of people do (hence why it's still so popular).

The deal itself is great, these episodes are extended and unaired in the UK (on average an extra 1-2 minutes are shown, including a few moments of stronger cursing believe it or not).

£40 on Tesco and they are giving 15% off code at present. So £6 quid cheaper and quidco?
