Two romantic cities in one trip, and Valentines day too. This is a great value trip, and I've put this together for those that don't want to spend too much but want a really nice stay and the accommodation is central but really lovely with great reviews. It's not 5* hotels, but they have good reviews and include breakfast in both. In Verona you'll arrive on the evening of Valentines Day, so suprise your Romeo or Juliette with a trip to Italy! In Verona you'll stay at the Casa al Giardino Giusti which is in a central location, walking distance to the city, but buses are also available. You'll spend 2 nights in Verona, enough to visit the arena and the many Romeo and Juliette 'sights'.
On 16th you will catch the train to Venice. It's just an hour away and there are various train times. You can get your tickets on the Trein Italia website. No matter how many times I go to Venice, my favourite way to arrive is on the train as you step out and face the Grand Canal - its a perfect way to arrive into Venice. If you catch the morning train you will arrive into Venice in the morning and then your flight home doesn't leave until the evening of the 17th February to get you home so you have close to 2 days in Venice (with only the expensive of 1 nights accommodation). The accommodation in Venice is the Al Saor which has a small kitchen area, breakfast included and the reviews really compliment the hosts. It's not a huge hotel, rather a smaller B&B but you'll get a true Italian welcome and it's only 6 minutes walk from the Rialto Bridge so you can easily explore Venice.
