This is an August/September family holiday (based on 2A and 2C) to Miami/Orlando. You leave Manchester on 19/08 and leave Miami on 04/09 - I think this may be the day after the kids get back but I know some schools have a teacher training day on the Monday. It won't suit everyone as there is some driving involved on this itinerary but the flights are very cheap and I'll keep out of the debate about flight prices in school holidays and kids missing time in school!
You fly from Manchester to Miami, with a short stop in London, which is standard when flying with British Airways. In Miami airport you will pick up the hire car (this itinerary is based on an intermediate hire car which should be big enough to accommodate a family plus luggage, although cheaper can be found for a smaller car). You will stay near Miami Beach in the Hotel Collins. This is centrally located and has good reviews compared with others in the area and is near the beach too, ideal for the 2 nights in Miami.
21 August - 1 September
You will drive to Orlando today, leisurely stopping off as there is no rush, and I'd suggest stopping off at the Kennedy Space Centre which is in the direction you are heading as well as beaches around the keys, there are lots of options and you could add in other stops if you wanted to reduce the driving time. In Orlando there are places to stay from £25 a night up to a few hundred £. I've picked the Buena Vista Suites as a mid-range hotel on the basis that the reviews suggest that these apartments are large with plenty of space and you also get breakfast included which for a family of 4 saves a fair bit of money. It is close to Disney and has decent reviews. You could spend less, depending on your budget but I think this is a good choice. If you wanted to save some cash then for less there are others but I'd feel confident recommending this one based on the ratings and reviews and I'd only recommend something I'd stay in myself and some cheaper places had dire reviews and after walking round Disney I think you'd be glad of somewhere comfortable, with space and free of bed bugs! Obviously any park passes are extra cost.
After leaving Orlando you will drive back towards Miami and for the final 3 nights you will stay at the Fairways in the Everglades. After theme parks and Disney I think this is a great way to end the trip but the drive is around 4hrs but you can stop off or add in other stops if you wish. The Fairways has great reviews and this rate also includes breakfast so again, it's great value with kids. Your flight doesn't leave until later on the final day so plenty of time to do the hour and half journey back to the airport.
