Sorry, if it's in a wrong place... I thought it's a good deal for the cat owners.

I've been looking around for a good and cheap flea treatment for my cat and found this site (petmeds.co.uk) Frontline is expencive brand to use but it seems so much cheaper with these people...
3 pipettes of 0.5 ml is only £9.79 with free p+p.

Anyway, it was good for me and I wanted to share it with others...

Enter voucher code 'PETS' for a discount and also go through quidco.

I would like to know why people are voting this cold :-(
If you know of any cheaper - let us know.

Sadly PETS code doesnt apply to this order, thanks for the quidco reminder. If you buy 6 it's even cheaper - £15.86

This is cheap. I get 4 x Advantage flea treatments for £16.03 from the vet. On here they are £12.93 before Quidco etc. The only problem is that I will have to get my vet to sign the prescription. How odd....

Thanks, ordered six. I found an old vet receipt from 2005 that charged me £14 for 3 then!!!
Good find, rep added. Cheers

yeh and why would your vet want to write you it anyway especially for free, when your not buying from your vet very strange, but advantage is the best stuff.

also its not worth buying the 0.4 ml tubes, just get the 0.8 ml tubes for same price and use on 2 cats instead of 1 ;)

Will my vet make a charge for providing a prescription?

No, the law changed in October 2005, vets must now provide you with a prescription free of charge.

Yeah I saw that one. If anyone on here can explain why with one you need a prescription and the other you don't. It is only flea treatment....

well i have used both frontline and Advantage, and advantage is very strong i only need to give 1 dose and it last's all year, you need prescription for that but i dont really know what the difference is, must be one is stronger than the other for sure.

REALLY cheap! i can get a years supply of frontline from there for my dog for the same price as 6months supply from my vet!!!!!
#11
My local chemist sells frontline. For cats it's about £16 for 6, as apposed to £16 for 3 from my vet.

Why on earth is a chemist selling cat flea spray? http://www.smileyhut.com/naughty/bottom.gif

Used these lot for a while now for my Forntline supply's. Cant fault them!
#14
Another good source is vetuk.co.uk. I've been getting frontline for cats from them for a while: £15.49 for 6, £9.75 for 3 including delivery.

Hi there

I've just ordered six vials for 15.49 (inc delivery) from Vets UK Ltd.

Hope that helps someone!

Frontline spot on has been off prescription for over a year due to a change in the law,
but most high street shops still insist it is on prescription and just to confuse the issue most packs are sill marked POM prescription only medicine.
#17
i think i am right in saying that the plain frontline just covers your cat, whereas the advantage helps to keep fleas and eggs from the susceptible areas of your house as well.
#18
Great find, been looking for this online for ages, i would vote hot but not sure how!

Thanks anyway!

There has recently been changes in the way people can access medicines for their animals. In the past it was either available from pet stores (over the counter stuff that wasnt that good) or from Vets (prescription only items which the vet supplied directly with a good mark up).

Now there is a new category that is in between and allows pharmacies to sell things like Frontline. It is also possible for them to supply prescription only medicines against the prescritpion that the vet is obliged to offer you (rather than just supplying and charging you the premuim price). This way you can shop around for the best price for your prescription. In many ways its now more like the supply of human medicines - where you have three categories

General Sales list - small pack sizes & less potent medicines - available from anywhere e.g. 16 paracetamol
Pharmacy only - only available from a pharmacy - larger pack sizes i.e. 32 paracetamol and more potent meidcines like sudafed, emergency contraception, antibiotic eye drops etc
Prescription only meidicnes - only available with a prescritpion -e.g. oral antibiotics

expect to see a lot more bits in your local pharmacy as this takes off. They will also be able to fill your prescriptions at good prices aswell.

this website is £1 cheaper than the other 2 for my dogs frontline!
#27
so to get the stronger stuff (advantage? is that what its called?) i need a presciption from the vet? and where can i buy it from, i cant see it on any of the sites mentioned here...
#28
It's on all the sites mentioned on here mate

http://www.vetuk.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=229

I was going to ask about the advantage aswell. So you go to the vets and they HAVE TO give you a perscription yes?
Also that link above says it's 4 months worth giving it once a month but what happens after that?
Would i need any more or should that get rid of them on the cat and around the house for good?

Thanks

But petmeds state on their front page they will beat the price of other sites by 5% plus there's that 5% discount:)
#32
Can you not just get the larger quantity dog one , and use one dog one on two cats??? Or something like that?
#33
I ordered from Petmeds and emailed them with the cheaper price. When the frontline arrived, they had already adjusted the price down to match the cheaper and give me a further 5% off so I was charged the cheaper amount. It was no hastle to do it! Would recommend them to anyone.

Thanks so much to the OP. I had no idea you could buy pet medication online until I read this thread. Our cat has just been diagnosed with an over active thyroid and will be on lifetime medication - which through this site will be less than half the price the vet has been charging us.

  CAUTION:EXTREMELY POISONOUS TO CATS

I finally ordered from Petmeds as they had 5% off and priced match but i wish i hadn't bothered now they are useless. They have for some reason 3 orders showing for me and they have messed up all the prices for the acclaim and the frontline.I have got stupid emails from someone there saying i have been charged £7.77 tax and the total is £52 something.

Never again from them.
#37
Would just like to thanks op, only just needed to order. Cat lotion came to £27.63 for 12, saving £13 over the last vet prices.

Just hope I don't get the experience of the last poster :w00t:

I don't mean to do a marketing thing here but customers of mine at Countrywide Farmers are often surprised to see that we sell Frontline for cats and dogs behind our counter with all the other sheep, horse and cattle treatments.
Not exactly sure of the prices off the top of my head but the cat one maybe around £8 - £9 ? For dogs, £10 - £26 depending on size ? I'll find out for sure tomorrow and edit my post.
You can find our stores list on our website http://www.countrywidefarmers.co.uk/.
Again, apologies for the apparent plug, really just hoping to help :)
