Had the same problem before buying cheap crap from Deichmann, Debenhams and other places, with school shoes, the mantra buy cheap buy twice (or more) is very appropriate. Do yourself a favour and just pay for a decent pair from Clarkes or another real shoe shop.

I agree I now buy from a known shoe shop and they last the whole of the school year. Pay once and reap the benefits.
