Frozen Planet (3 Discs) [Blu-ray] for £12.99 @ Play.Com

goonertillidiegoonertillidie[helper]

Narrated by Sir David Attenborough and from the award-winning team behind Planet Earth & Blue Planet comes the ultimate portrait of the earth's Polar regions.

The Arctic and Antarctic remain the greatest wildernesses on Earth. The scale and beauty of the scenery and the sheer power of the elements - the weather, the ocean and the ice - is unmatched anywhere else on our planet. Yet these harsh environments are teeming with life: home to iconic animals from polar bears to emperor penguins and from killer whales to wandering albatrosses.

Using the latest camera technology to film on land, from the air, underwater and below the ice caps, Frozen Planet follows their fascinating lives throughout the seasons as they struggle to survive. With spectacular polar landscapes and amazing animal behaviour, often filmed for the first time, it captures the drama of an extreme natural world.

With both Poles under grave threat from climate change, this extraordinary series may be the last chance to witness these great wildernesses before they change forever.

Bought. First set of blu-rays despite owning a PS3 since 2007! Hopefully this'll start the ball rolling :-)

Brilliant documentary. The battle between the bison and the wolf is one of the most memorable and heartbreaking moments.

Where do you live, in namibia?
Here in England we have just had the coldest summer ever recorded!
Accordingly to what the global warming brigade was preaching ten years ago, we should have all been under water by now.
    Where's this global warming?
Bring it on, I'm freezing here!
Please do not try to convince me that Global warming is a fact, you will fail miserably.

BTW, Good deal. I just need a Blu Ray player now :p

I think you may have misunderstood the effects of global warming.

Our contribution towards it is probably relatively small, but i'm amazed you are completey denying its existence.

I have had the privilege to meet researchers who worked in antartica and north pole and their findings point in the direction that the planet is heading towards a NATURAL mini ice age similar to the one witnessed and recorded a few centuries ago.
Unfortunately western governments do not talk about such researches.
They impose super taxes on all sort of commodities and their perfect excuse is that of global warming.
I always fail to understand how we can stop this alleged global warming by paying over the top for everything we buy.
Furthermore as I have only studied normal Physics and not made up one, I don't understand how melting ice already floating in water could result in ocean level rising.
This level should actually drop as the total volume of a block of ice will be reduced when liquified into water.
This will balance out the melted ice coming from mountain tops.
Also if temperature rises, more water would evaporate balancing out the total liquid water in the oceans, thus making it impossible to have the houses of Parliament under water.
Sorry, but empirically I do not see any effect of this global warming, I can only remember that summers were hotter when I was young, here in England as well as in southern Europe.
