In my local tescos this evening they were reducing some of there fruit trees from £6.99 to £1.40, these were in bud and for the money I thought it was worth a pop

We bought:
Victoria Plum
Bramley Apple
Pear

All £1.40 each, they had a yellow reduction sticker on but the sell by date ( LOL!! ) was the 17th of April.

They had loads left...

This could be reduced further by buying a few thousand, and in 10 years selling back to Tesco wholesale - effectively bringing the price down to £1.38 based on a made up calculation by me.

although it would be -£1.38 on Tesco's books as that's what they would pay you for 10,000 apples and oranges.

makes sure you buy enough of each genus to cross polinate each other.

Were these trees in every Tesco - or just your branch?

I would like to get to the root of this, as I am sick a more offers that are branch specific.

I was passing the Huntingdon store this afternoon so popped in to check.
They are obviously tighter there as the trees were reduced down to about £4.50.
Still not a bad price but decided to give it a miss.
It can't be a national thing as the reduced labels were the usual barcodes printed by the staff
who mark down the OOD stuff. Some stores are more generous than others.

Like a lot of supermarket deals posted on here - looks like these a store specific offers.

I got a 'stella' cherry tree from the Barrow-in-Furness branch, but they were only down to £3.49, which is still a great buy, also when you read the blub, it says they are self-fertile, so you only need one.(so my dad says.) I'm **** at gardening and wouldn't have a clue!
