The Olympus is type M
The Fuji is type H (which is 3 X's Faster )

A quick search on Wiki reveals this : Transfer speeds.

Doesn't look like 3x to me:thinking: Oddly enough though it says 3x on that page too:?

That 3x faster is a good bit of advertising eh?

3*2.5=4
3*4=5

Back in my universe, those sums just don't add(or multiply) up:giggle:

I think they are refering to the "write speed" between a standard card and the X type

1.3MB/s = standard
4MB/s = X type

3 X 1.3 = 3.9MB/s

Just ordered a 2gb one type M from dvd.co.uk for £16.99+1.99 p+p for the F20.

I also have a F30 which I have used type M 512mb XD card with no problems what so ever. I personally think it's worth paying the extra for Type H for this type of camera. The F20 doesn't shoot RAW (big files) or reel off lots of frames per second to warrant a faster memory card!

3 X 1.3 = 3.9MB/s

I did consider that, but if you compare like for like ie 512mb card, it doesn't work.

Anyway I only buy H (as in Hard to source cheaply in 2GB style) cards myself because the extra bit of speed is handy for video. For most people though a cheap M card will do as theres not a lot in it. All those figures being theoretical maximum etc;-)

Yep. I have the Fuji s9600 and, as far as I know, it is only compatible with the M cards.

Can anyone confirm if this is the case?

I have had one of these cards in my camera since the beginning of summer and when I came to download the photographs onto my PC, the card corrupted and I could no longer read any of the data. I have tried three different photo recovery software packages and none of them can detect the data and the camera does not recognise the card any more.

Maybe I am doing something wrong, but based on my experience, I would not recommend. Sorry!

According to Fuji my S6500 only takes 1GB cards but it actually takes 2GB H cards as well, so the 9600 should as well. Most of the 95/6 owners i know go with CF though.

One thing to note on these new cards is that they don't work with a lot of card readers based on old chipsets. Even Fuji's own mini reader cant read the 2GB H cards:x

I'm trying to find a cheap 4GB CFII card, but a 2GB XD would be useful to put in at the same time as a backup.

P.S. I absolutely love the S9600. Using the 10% voucher, I got it for £202 from Jessops collect at store.

Well if you're unsure email Fuji as they have pretty good CS ;-)

I'm betting it will work as the 65/96 were released at around the same time.

Top man, I was trying to find the matrix earlier:thumbsup:

I see they've updated it finally. If you check it against the specs on the main website you will see some interesting errors ie the 6500 only being able to take 1GB cards max.

Glad to be of assistance. I spent ages trying to find it myself and thought Id post it to save people 20minutes of unexciting browsing.

The downloadable manual for the F20 states it can only take 1Gb max and has no mention of the Type H card either. So inconsistency rules on the Fujifilm site it would seem.

Thanks Shengis. Originally tried on built-in card reader on laptop, then old card reader-writer, then bought a brand new one today - I think the card had been well and truly corrupted by this time :-(

I am now going to send the card off to see if a company can retrieve the photo's :?

I ordered my TYPE H card from play.com 3 weeks ago and the order finally turned up today! Worse still, they sent me a TYPE M so if you ordered a TYPE H recently then check the packaging to make sure you got sent what you ordered. Useless :(
