As you probably know, boots currently have a 15% sale off everything until the end of today.

They currently have the well-specced Fuji F480 digital camera half price, from £199.99 to £99.99, which is a good deal in itself.

Use code FAFS89 to get a further 10% off on top of the 15% off.

You can also go through quidco to save a further £2.62, and you'll get £2.96 of boots points for a total price of £69.41, a saving of £130.58 off the original price.

Camera specs: 8.2mp, 4x optical zoom, 2.7" lcd, SD + XD compatible.

NOTE: The product page says it won't be available online until November, however I think they just forgot to update it as it is showing in stock.

In response to comments, there are quite a few less than positive comments and reviews about this camera. If you're considering buying this model, PLEASE DO SOME RESEARCH FIRST AND MAKE SURE IT'S THE ONE FOR YOU!

Don't forget Quidco!!

Really good camera for the money. Bought one a few weeks back with staff discount so paid about £87, they didn't last long in store so buy while you can - at anything near £70 they are a steal.

Great deal - Thanks - Heat added

There is a reason for the price drop. This is a really naff camera. The pictures are "very"grainy. I took mine back after the last price reduction. I tried another one in the store and even the sales person admitted the pictures had a lot of grain.

Yup. I'd advise anyone to buy this Fuji instead for £30 more:

This might be a good camera but you can't exactly pop it in your pocket on a night out

Prospective purchasers might like to check out the reviews on Amazon first, although I know these can't always be relied upon.

samsung l70 is another option, £76.43 from £109.99?

I have this camera. natural shots are very good quality. shots with the flash are absolutely appalling. also it is very slow to write to the memory card and it is about 5 seconds before i can take the next shot so no good where you like going click, click, click all in a short space of time.

:w00t:

Just phoned Boots online and cancelled my order - 08456 090 055 (local rate)

They said it might not have gone through in time, if it hasn't i can just return it to any store and get a full refund. That was a close escape

You have done the right thing. I have had several Fujis in the past and all of them have been much better than this. My 3Mp Fuji takes clearer sharper pictures. Google for reviews you will find they are not at all flattering. Strange that some people find the photos good:w00t: . Unbelievable! Perhaps a trip to Specsavers would be in order.

what about the Nikon CoolPix S4 with discounts got it for £66. it has a swivel lens and x10 optical

well i've been really happy with photos so far, not had grainy problems like some others so maybe they are more hit and miss?
I went from a samsung digimax i5 which i found appauling for just about everything.
Before that i've always had fuji and have been happy with all really.

As for size - not the smallest of cameras but in no way overly chunky.

For £70 i don't think you'd go wrong with it - yes pay more money and you will get a better camera, but in this range its still a good buy

yeah i got it last time it was listed here and have been very happy. those sample pics posted earlier are all very easily possible with this camera.

i'm very happy with the macro on it, this is very nice. the zoom (4x as opposed to the regular 3x) is handy as well. as for the speed of taking photos, it has a slight delay to it if you have it on the highest quality, i've put it down to 4mp (easily enough for a photo, you could print a poster at this resolution, though don't quote me on that) and it takes the picure faster and stores it faster. i also have the extreme II sd card thing, which means it stores faster.

the flash does make people look washed out, but in my opinion nearly all flashes do (except maybe proper professional ones, like those massive ones on stands). but if you instead set it at iso 200 or 400 (depending on how dark it is) or 800 if it's a concert or something then skin tones etc all look fairly nice.

obviously it's not a top of the range camera, since it's not at the top of the price range, but i don't regret my purchase (i paid £100 but got £20 in boots points from it, so technically £80) and i'm very happy with the camera, it takes good quality photos
