Description

The new Fujifilm F40fd features stunning, slim-line design, 8.3 Megapixel high-performance Fujifilm Super CCD sensor, 3x optical zoom lens and an easy-to-view 2.5-inch LCD monitor. The Fujifilm FinePix F40fd camera also features low-light performance of ISO 2000 at full resolution and Fujifilm's unique Intelligent Flash system, which enables users to capture natural looking images without the `washed out' effect that can be the result of traditional on-camera flash.

Fujifilm's hardware-based Face Detection technology captures up to ten faces in a frame in as little as 0.05 seconds, optimizing focus and exposure to take the best portrait shots. Face Detection sets your imagination free to compose photos without the need to manually set the camera to get the best photo; a simple push of the shutter button is all that is required. In playback mode, Face Detection can be used to maintain faces as the key focus of a photo when cropping or zooming in.

With Fujifilm's proprietary Super CCD HR VI and RP (Real Photo) Processor II, the Fujifilm FinePix F40fd offers ISO 2000 sensitivity at full resolution of 8.3 Megapixels. This high sensitivity delivers images that are crisp and clear, even at night or when shooting fast-moving subjects. Intelligent Flash analyzes the subject and controls flash and exposure levels accordingly. When combined with Face Detection, Intelligent Flash adjusts flash power output to the optimum level for human skin tones.

The Fujifilm FinePix F40fd features an improved 2.5-inch LCD screen. It is coated with Fujifilm's WV film, which expands screen viewing angle by 25 degrees (maximum) compared to the FinePix F31fd. Compact design (23.3mm thin), redesigned button layout and a new mode dial help make the Fujifilm F40fd incredibly easy to use. In addition, a new GUI makes the camera's menu system simple to navigate, with `pop-up' explanations to guide users to the correct mode or menu option.

Some people do not go through Quidco and Quidco is never guaranteed so please dont add it to you total as it is misleading:thumbsup:

The 5% off code you've attached (experience08) is now expired ...the fiver off code still works - SO still the cheapest way of getting an F40FD though.

Yep - the 'policy' here is to not include quidco savings in the headline price. But is still a hot price.

Great price, good little camera

I got this camera a couple of weeks ago. Having owned a few digital cameras and two digital slrs I was looking for a compact that would take decent indoor lowlight pics. Fujifilm come with a high reputation due to their large ccd's. However, I could not have been more disappointed with the levels of noise in the pictures when taken in low light. I'm probably being very unfair though because even my slr was picking up some noise. My search continues for the compact that probably doesn't exist.

Peaple are saying its still working fine

OP, your calculationas are all wrong, you can only use one voucher and should not include Quidco so its really £94.99

The predesssor to this model the Fuji F31fd is probably the camera you heard about for it's low light performance. The f40d is actually worse in low light because they bumped up the mp count, however it is marginally better in daylight. The problem is that the f31fd is pretty old now so it's hard to get ahold of, hence its actually more expensive than the f40 or even f50.

F31fd has lower noise at most ISO's, especially the higher ISO's(this was the important one to me)
Apeture and Shutter priority modes
Better, more solid construction(the F40's backside is plastic)

Quick comparison

F31 has Shutter and Aperture Priority. 6.3MP Max ISO3200.
F41 has no A and S priority modes. It can use XD and SD cards. 8.3 MP and only goes up to ISO2000.

the reviews sum up some bad noise problems, as most people do indoor work i dont see this as such a bargain as it has faults that result in poor shots and the fact this is over a year old now...

Does face detection detect really ugly people too?

you're right - it's becuase I'd previously used the code. And I concur, you can't use more than one code in their checkout process. So not possible to get 5% off *and* £5 off.

I bought this camera over a year ago when it came out first, maybe for the pro it might be lacking in some areas but for everyday use its brilliant with its in built editing and save function and much more
It has the ability to take 2 shots one with flash and one without, almost simultaneously so that you can chose the one which is best for the light conditions.
I can not recommend it highly enough at this price ( I gave £161)
Its still available at pixmania for £99.99
