Last time posted on here it was around £100 at Argos. Just got mine its says refurbished but its basically brand new condition and says 6 months warranty on the box, was delivered by courier. Personally I think its an absolute bargain so had to post it on here. They also have other cameras but having tried this one before I couldnt resist at this price. Now to sell my Nikon Coolpix 3700! Enjoy ^__^

The Fuji Finepix S5700 is an advanced camera featuring excellent optics, 7.1 megapixel resolution and ease of use. It gives you as much technical control as you want, while retaining automatic and program modes.

At a glance:
-10x optical zoom, giving an equivalent of 38-380mm
-Large 2.5", 230 000 pixel LCD display with wide view filter so it's easier to share your on-camera images
-1cm macro focusing
-xD or SD card compatibility
-Picture Stabilisation mode, which increases the ISO automatically up to 1600 with minimal noise
-Increase to 7.1 million pixels (over 5 million on the S5600)
-"Real Photo" Processor to deliver first-rate colour reproduction, image sharpness, low noise and excellent tonal response.
-User modes to increase creativity, such as Fuji's own "Natural Light with Flash" which takes 2 photos (one natural light, one with flash) and leaves you to decide which is better. Also, Fuji Intelligent Flash Technology assesses the ambient light and general scene information to carefully balance exposure to avoid the washed-out appearance of so many flash photos.
-Image stabilised movie mode at an excellent 30fps at 640x480 resolution with zooming and exposure adjustment while you shoot. You can take up to 35 minutes of footage on a 2GB memory card.
-TTL 256-zones metering
-Aperture priority, shutter proirity and manual exposure modes plus 12 scene modes
-Preset, custom and automatic white balance
-Electronic Viewfinder

A firmware upgrade is available for this camera here http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/s5700/fupd.html it allows larger than 2gb cards to be used in it (upto 4gb currently with this) among other improvements, its simple to do too, just follow the instructions given on the link. See post 67 http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2243966&postcount=67 for more info.

I dont get why people vote stuff hot or cold without placing a comment, looks like a deal to me, i'll vote hot :)

On a side note, perhaps a necessity to post a comment before you can vote hot or cold would be an idea for HUKD ?
#3
Definately hot,

The fuji 5700/5800's are exceptionally good for the price/size and £70! BARGAIN!

If that was the case people wouldn't vote, because it would be a time issue for me and I guess many other people too.

Gets a cold from me - its a refurbished one
#5
Perhaps people are voting cold because it's refurbished and not new?
#6
Doesnt matter if cold to me, I got a black one thanks to a tip off someone on here so wanted to share :)
#7
is warranty worth buying anyone??
#8
Nice find, thanks

When I got mine from jessops the 3year warranty through jessops was about £30, theirs also covers for accidental damage or theft! Paid £130 for mine and was excellent value for money then at that price and still would be! Image quality is excellent and the 10x optical zoom really captures detail!

you can add a 2year warranty for £12.50 or even 3 year for more

Apparently the 20% code works off that too

We would also like to take this opportunity to explain the benefits offered by Fujifilm’s Superwarranty for your camera.

In the unlikely event that your camera should suffer accidental damage, or fail outside the period of warranty, the cost of repair to some models can be costly. It is for this reason that we offer you the opportunity of protecting your camera, by taking out a policy to cover breakdown and accidental damage. This ensures a repair or replacement speedily at no further cost to yourself. The duration of cover is up to you.

* TWO years’ extended cover equals THREE years’ total protection.
* THREE years’ extended cover equals FOUR years’ total protection
* FOUR years’ extended cover equals FIVE years’ total protection

The first year’s accidental cover on your camera is included, for example:

Policy Length Total Length of Cover Cost Cover expires
2 years 3 years £12.50 28/5/2011
3 years 4 years £18.50 28/5/2012
4 years 5 years £24.50 28/5/2013

So you get an extra 6 months too but i didnt bother with warranty - ill stick with fingers crossed and the free up to 6yr statutory warranty! :whistling:

This was taken from around 10 feet away using just the automatic setting and optical zoom, just to give you an idea of the detail the camera can capture,

Surely you shouldnt vote cold just cause its refurbished...the price is exceptional for a camera of such good quality and thats taking into account the fact its refurb....

Lets take an extreme example....if the camera were £10 you would still vote cold just because its a refurb? Im relatively new to the site yes, but surely the point is to highlight a deal, if the price is good for what you get it should be hot?
#13
Nice find and voted hot.

That’s amazing! Going to order 1 me thinks. For the extra few quid and if it has accidental I'll go for the warranty also!!
#15
Am I missing something its PRICE: £79.99
#16
Use 20% discount voucher to get the lower price. Got one myself last week, next day delivery as well. If these things get any cheaper they will be giving them away.
#17
has anyone got any details on their warranty re: whether accidental damage / theft is included? their website doesn't seem to link anything except for an "add 2 years extended warranty for 12.50 to your basket" icon when you go through check out..

There is no 6year statutory warranty !!

A item has to last a resaonable amount of time, you have to factor in price and what sort of item it is, i wouldnt expect a £68 refurbished camera to last 6 years
#19
I think this is a brilliant hot deal, i want one! but for a normal photo taker - I think i'm better with a small one thats easier to carry around

Nice pic, looks like you might have a nest though! And has that Bee just had a creamy poo?
Anyway I was looking for cheap camera on another thread, this is a bit more than I was hoping to pay but giving me something to think about.

Respect! Voted hot.

Just to confuse things even further... i know its not the cheapest but they have many more models on offer. Just noticed before ordering, now what the heck to do!!

Mines going to be for baby shots, internal shots e.g. in the house must be excellent! As with poor light my current camera really suffers and I don't want to blind the little one with flashes!!

Voted hot - this is a good camera - I bought one last year from Fuji online. It was new & £150 then. I had an old Fuji which was broken and I was able to trade it in for £40 against it too, so total was £110.

Excellent buy at this price - it takes cheap SD cards unlike the old Fujis. Runs on normal AA batteries, which do last a long time. It's a bit on the large size to fit in pockets though.
#32
Thank you very much, just what I was looking for my Dads birthday :)
heat & rep. and for Shengis for the 20% :)

I regret selling that as the zoom on the compact is no where near as good
