I still have mine , got to agree , a great camera .

I have been looking at this for while?
useless with technology, do you think it'll make a good all round family everyday/holiday camera?
(sorry to gate crash your thread)?

This would make a great everyday camera for the family , in auto mode it is a straightforward shoot camera , in all the other functions it is easily adjustable when you learn a bit more for more personal settings . Fast start up , loads of battery life , looks good , very lightweight to hold . The only downside is that it is a little bulky compared to slimmer models , certainly won't fit in a handbag too easily .

PJR have you seen the size on womens hand bags these days?
#8

For the sake of a £5 I'd go with Amazon for 2 reasons :

1. Customer services are 2nd to none , Play can be troublesome with returns .

2. Amazon pricematch , if it goes down within a month you can ask for the reduction to be refunded .

For this reason this is HOT not COLD .

:p

Not really , I was thinking more of handheld , over the shoulder it would be fine I assume .

What sizes are they nowadays anyway ?

Why is this a deal? it's been at this price for a while!!!

Great camera though

I've got this camera and i cant speak highly enough of it.
Ok its bigger than a compact, but the quality of the images are far superior.
Voted hot.

PJR very large?
what will I need to go in it? there are so many different cards this is whats confused me?
#13
Takes SD card.
#14
thanks biker jeff .
#15
Does take XD as well.... But SD are the cheaper.
#16
I have a 2gb XD card , it holds plenty of images depending on your resolution used , from 813 on finest to 15871 on lowest . I have a spare 512mb card that I never use anymore , if you buy this camera I'll send you the card free of charge to get you going .

Great camera , you won't be disappointed Lisa .
#17
Thanks PJR, but whats the difference between an xd and sd, or am i just being a bit dim?

My cards came with the camera in a deal so I never really found out the difference . I believe the XD cards consume less power so might have a benefit for battery life , SD cards are cheaper though .

For a first timer just put it into auto mode , set the flash to auto , the camera will do the rest .

You won't regret it , picture quality is excellent .

I wish people would put things into perspective over this deal & elsewhere .

Buy from Amazon , sit at home & await the camera to be delivered for £105 or whatever .

Buy from Argos , pay delivery or go by car , fuel costs plus / or parking charges , ultimately you pay more !!

God forbid , voting cold over £5 !

Anybody reccomend a rechargable battery pack for use with this pref with a car adapter

Yep, cos those Argos stores are as rare as hens teeth and you're never likely to be near one.

You just didn't post the best deal, don't get upset.

Love this camera to death its superb...my husband has it now and I got the S8000 (basically same camera but 18X optical!) Can't say anything bad about these cameras at all apart from my s8000s knob fell off!!LOL But 8 days later a brand spanking new one delivered back to me and that one was from Ebuyer at a top price too!! Voted hot 10/10!!!!!!!!!

I used the 5700 today on the beach (too scared to take my one out!!!haha!!) uploaded the photos and they are great IMO....if you have the money for it go for it you honestly won't be disappointed!

The kodak alkaline batteries outta the quid store work a charm!!! (not the gold coloured jobs though, they are poops! Get the black batteries with rainbow colours on the pack!)

Not really. For that you need Optical image stabilization which this camera doesn't have. It does have a mode where the ISO setting is automatically increased in poor light so that reasonable shutter speeds can be maintained to help avoid blur but it is a poor second to proper image stabilization as high ISO settings invariably have a detrimental effect on the photo quality due to increased noise.
