Seconded I paid £125 a year ago and am still very pleased with it, the batteries last around 200 shots with energizers, and you can also extend the warranty through fuji themselves for £12.50 for an extra 2 years £18.50 for an extra 3 years and £24.50 for an extra 4 years, they have just sent me a letter offering it me again now my camera is a year old, if it cannot be repaired it will be replaced by the current equivalent, im going for the extra 3 years, the best bit is IT INCLUDES ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE COVER!

Isn't this newer model (S5800) worth the extra fiver ?

Also you can get a 2gb card for £4.35

Great price, but I hated the camera. The size is pretty good for what it is, but obviously isn't ideal, but really the quality of the photos were shockingly bad. Maybe I got a bad unit, but I've seen a S5600 with similar faults.

Oh and itsadeal has a good point - S5800 it is!

Voted hot - but this camera is useless in my opinion, and you can do better for not much extra.

Agreed the camera is large but nicely balanced and laid out, Ive compared shots from iot with a £500 nikon dslr and even the pro photographer was amazed as the colours are more vibrant, its not the ideal camera to get if you want a point and shoot as you need to adjust some settings to see the best out of it.

The 10x zoom really comes into its own though and captures amazing clarity,

This shot was taken from about 8-10ft away with no tripod and relying on auto focus using the digital zoom, the auto focus is snappy too as with a bee you get very little time frame for the autofocus to capture it!

I took a look on trustedreviews website, and there doesn't appear to be much difference between the two. Having said that, I would pay the extra £5 and assume that the fixes are in the cameras software etc...

and thanks for the memory card link!

The only difference is the resolution increasing from 7.1 to 8mp, any bugs that where on the S5700 have been ironed out by a firmware update on the fuji site http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/s5700/fupd.html
This update increases the memory card maximum capacity to 4GB from 2gb.
Picture file sizes on this camera are often in the 3+mb range too!

Great pic harlzter! Is the head meant where nesting in!to be blurry?

The focus was on the body, whilst the head was busy trying to work its way in the hole, thats actually me next door neighbours cavity wall they are/where nesting in! They where going in and out at a rapid rate of speed, im surprised it managed to lock a focus on the body at all!

Wow, thanks for pointing that out - you can get the S8000 from amazon for £140 delivered

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fujifilm-FinePix-S8000fd-Digital-Camera/dp/B000UUHL2K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1216128943&sr=8-1

It has 18x optical zoom which is nice, and takes pretty good pictures apparently!

I don't trust "Trusted Reviews"....they're a little too generous on the point giving for some of their reviews so best take it with a pinch of salt. Digital Photography Review is good so long as the camera you're interested in has been reviewed....plenty of other review sites though.

If you don't mind refurbs they are available direct from Fuji, as mentioned by others. The S8000 is currently £114.39 (£120.38 delivered). There was a 20% off code that worked last month but unfortunately it's expired now.

8gb? they work in it? I thought even with the firmware upgrade limit was 4gb?

EDIT: I stand corrected, it seems the limit was between synching between a 4gb card in the camera and a vista pc.

The firmware(Ver.1.01 to Ver.1.02) update incorporates the following issues.
Countermeasure for PC connection between the 4GB memory card inserted camera and PC on Windows Vista.
Data transfer from PC to the camera has been enabled under usage of FinePixViewer.

So at £76 would this be a very good deal ?, I haven't seen a camera with 10x optical zoom for £76, unless anyone knows better.

PS

able to get it at £76 with discount voucher + I know someone who works for Tesco, so staff discount
