ujifilm introduces the Fujifilm FinePix S5800, an 8.0 Megapixel version of FinePix S5700. The Fujifilm S5800 is also fitted with a 10x long-zoom FUJINON lens and in addition, the Fujifilm FinePix S5800 is equipped with variety of shooting functions such as ISO 1600 sensitivity, Picture Stabilization (Anti-blur), ?telligent-Flash?powerful movie functions, and Super Macro mode. The Fujifilm S5800 offers a bright, 2.5?230K LCD, with a refresh rate of 60 frames per second. Furthermore, the camera is fitted with a Wide View filter, enabling consumers to view the LCD at oblique angles, which is great for awkward shots or group playback. Despite the long zoom, the Fujifilm FinePix S5800 is remarkably compact.

I have the model before this the s5700 and it is a great camera

This is not a UK model and as such you will not be able to download the updates and I'm not too sure about the warranty either.

Sorry, but how do you know its not a UK model, and what updates do you need to download?
#4
Still a good price. As is same price on fuji site for a refurb.
#5
brilliant, was looking to get this refurbished from the Fuji site, no need now :-D

I bought an S5700 from ebuyer last year which is definately a UK model. It should be a worldwide warranty in any case & it will be obsolete before any updates are available if they ever are. The S5700 is nowhere near as good as the S5000 I have had for a few years by the way !!

One of the reviews on ebuyer says:-
Absolutely superb camera but please be aware that when I tried to register this with 'myfuji' to take advantage of the 2 year warranty I was told the camera is 'Non-UK stock' (Ebuyer confirmed this to be the case) and therefore could not be registered.

Of course ebuyer may be selling UK stock now as that review was in October last year - but worth checking if you want the extended warranty.

That is not a very good review at all , try this one , a lot more detailed :

This might be a problem for some people , I'm not sure how critical it really is though on super zoom cameras :

One thing the S5800 lacks however is any sort of image stabilisation

Maybe a decent tripod would be an answer .

Cracking price by the way , just awaiting a reply from Ebuyer regarding whether it is UK stock or not .

My fuji S9600 curled up and died last week. Fuji want £99 to fix it! Alternatively I could just buy this one...hmm

Ps. The anti-blur function I think is just an automatic setting that increases the ISO (film speed/CCD sensitivity). Thats how it works (worked) on my S9600.

My mate has just bought one of those , I hope it isn't contagious !

Isn't it under warranty at all ?

Surely it hasn't been more than 2 years since you bought it ?

I read a review from ebuyer.com from a customer that has recently purchased one! Do your homework Jeezeypeeps ;)

So should I stick with my S5000 instead of this one then??

I really like the S5000 other than the small screen and the 2 sec shutter speed restriction for night shots.
