i suspect this is worth the extra as spec is better.......extra mp is near irrelevant imo, better optical zoom is worth the £8 extra

I've managed to reserved the Fujifilm AV120 12MP Compact Digital Camera £29.99 and the Fujifilm AX250 14MP £38.99 Is the later worth £9 extra? I know very little about cameras. The differences;

Fujifilm AV120 12MP Compact Digital Camera
£29.99
12 megapixels
3 x optical zoom
6.3 x digital zoom
Continuous shooting up to 1.6 frames per second

Fujifilm AX250 14MP Compact Digital Camera £38.99
14 megapixels
5 x optical zoom
6.7 x digital zoom
Continuous shooting up to 1.2 frames per second

Any advice?

This has a 5X Optical Zoom and thats alot better than a 3X. I got to test the 5X zoom on my Samsung S1060 shooting a video of a nearby hotel burning down in december and I could really get in close to the fireman on the sky platform, it does make a big difference having a higher optical zoom.

Forget about the extra megapixels however with regards to the extra 2x optical zoom, I'd say its definitely worth the extra £9.00

I bought a TZ10 only yesterday (made an offer on ebay / cash collect / factory sealed with Argos receipt / £160.00) the reviews speak for themselves. Ive just bought this as well for more... lets say party use.

Reserved the red. One left in my store now.

The TZ10 is in a different league - but hardly comparable on price either.

If you just want a small, cheap but decent compact for 'snaps', go for the Fuji (plus some rechargeable batteries). If you're interested in something rather better and capable of 'real photography' the TZ10 is pretty near unbeatable. Be aware that the Panny is a little bit bigger than your average compact.

Consider the TZ8 too. Essentially the same camera but with a few features missing (eg GPS) which you may not need. Was £167.97 instore at Tesco this week. Also look out for DSG reducing the TZ9 - a DSG only model which is a hybrid of the TZ8 and TZ10; possibly the best of all three if you can get it at the right price.

Shame you missed the caskback offer around Christmas, I think Amazon were selling it for ~ £206.00 - £30.00 c/b = £176.00
