High quality and affordable

The Fujifilm Finepix A170 offers full 10 megapixel quality plus 3x zoom optics and great low light (ISO 1600) performance plus a large 2.7" monitor, all in a compact body.

Panorama Mode
This model is equipped with a Panorama mode that allows up to three consecutive images to be seamlessly stitched together.

Automatic Scene Recognition
With Auto Scene Recognition, the Finepix A170 will recognise shooting situations from six choices (Portrait (with Face Detection), Landscape, Macro, Backlit Portrait, Night and Night Portrait). Once the appropriate mode is selected, exposure and focus settings are then optimised.

Picture Stabilisation
Fujifilm's own anti-blur technology helps keep your images sharp and free from the effects of shake.

Convenient Power on the Go
The Finepix A170 uses two standard AA batteries so that if you run out of power, it's always easy to replace them.

This is the same one they have in Asda for £53 in their Technology Week. Looks and feels like a nice camera

TBF it's about average for compact camera's.
Had an old Fuji as my first digital camera and still shows brand new models up now, very good results from a basic point n press.

Alternatively, for £9 more, you can get a Samsung ES55 Camera - Silver
(10MP, 3x Optical Zoom) + a FREE Lowepro Case for £64.99 @ Amazon.
It has lots of cool features like face detection with a metal body and rechargeable Li-on Battery too.

Nothing intrinsically wrong with the camera but even if you actually prefer an AA powered one(chunkier, shorter battery life, ongoing battery costs, etc) this is a mediocre deal as there are similar offers widely available. Most retailers have this one or variations on it at similar prices.

Fine for a Christmas present for the kids or for very ocassional use but most buyers would be better off spending just a little more and getting a slimmer, li-ion powered camera with recharger, etc.

I'm looking for a £100-odd SLIM camera - had a Nikon but it broke. :( Any ideas?

Always check out Panasonic first - best build quality and best lenses (critically important component) in a compact camera.

You shouldn't have too much trouble around that price point, eg Tesco have several.

If you are prepared to stretch to nearer £200 (I think about £175 has been posted on here) the TZ6 with 12x zoom is a really fabulous camera.

Tesco link here but you may well be able to beat current prices. Look in store too - if they have any of the FS4 or FS6 left they are great value.

It's only 116g and fits well in my jeans pocket. see detailed spec here

Good price for the spec but reviews mention the usual Samsung issue - confusing and non-intuitive controls and menus. I had a samsung a while back (not this model) and it drove me mad - looks like they still have problems in this area.

What reviews are you referring to on the Samsung ES55?
The controls and menus are very easy to understand and use, from my experience.
