Couldn't believe it when I found this on the shelf in my local Tesco. Wasn't marked as a reduction, just remarkably cheap!

Not the best or most up to date camera out there but at this price an incredible deal. Dates in literature suggest it's from 2007 or later so not too ancient (review says launched early 2007).

I wasn't even looking for a camera but couldn't leave this one on the shelf. It was actually cheaper than the hopeless own brand / cheap brand ones there, including some which don't even have optical zoom.

I usually only go for Li-ion rechargeables but this one can sit in the car 'for emergencies' with AA batteries not fitted. At least it takes SD cards (as well as xD).

Brief spec:

6.3Mp
3x optical zoom
6.2x digital zoom
2.5" LCD monitor
ISO 100/200/400
PictBridge compatible
Video: 320x240 @30fps
Video out (NTSC/PAL)
10MB internal memory
Supplied with batteries, cable, strap, software, comprehensive manual
USB connection

First review I came across isn't too shabby and that was based on a £99 typical price!

If you can find these in your Tesco they would make a great present or first camera for a child. Not too bad as a main camera for a non-enthusiast either. Good luck!

terrific deal
Those parents thinking of buying a kids camera e.g. the vtech garbage should opt for something like this instead
#2
Only downside to this camera is that it drains batteries v quickly if you leave them in!
#3
The other downside is that these are generally one off store specific deals of old stock. I've seen quite a few in my local Tesco in recent months.

Could be but as stated in original post it wasn't marked as such - just sitting there looking cheap and lonely so I made friends with it.

I think I've got this model, maybe even the one lower - not sure as a friend "borrowed" it . Got it for £40ish over 2 years ago, it was on offer at Boots at the time. It takes very decent pictures, only gripe is its a bit slow between snaps but perfect for the kids or if not wanting to risk your main camera. I took it with me around SE Asia. I'd snap one up in a flash at this price

none in mine...just phoned.

cheap, decent for the price though, heat added for ya!
#14
has anyone else seen it at this price?

I have the A550 which I think is slightly newer. Good budget cameras, take nice pictures. Make sure you get Sanyo Eneloop AA rechargable batteries from 7DayShop though they are the only batteries I have found that last a good length of time.
#16
Also make sure you buy a 2GB SD card, the 10MB internal memory will store about 4 photos..

No, make sure you get the low self discharge batteries in this deal:

I don't understand why this is so hot when nobody else has managed to find it?

Oh this is nothing... I remember the case of ONE pack of grapes bought from ONE Sainsbury's supermarket branch that was never repeated by anyone else that got to about 1300 degrees! :whistling:

Which is one reason the heat of the "deal" is best ignored, and it makes it all the more comical when posters get so hot under the collar when someone votes a deal cold!
#23
As the OP I have to say that if the one I got really is the only one out there then this isn't a hot deal. Anyone seen another? Anyone looked?
#24
i have looked in 2 tescos near me none in either but staying that they are both quite small stores (they do cameras though just not much choice)
