Which Digital Camera - September 2007
"The 8.3-megapixel FinePix A800 has Fujifilm's own RP (Real Photo) processor. This technology was only previously available in the higher-end models such as the F' series and of course the FinePix S5 Pro DSLR. In other areas, the camera has the simplicity of control we expect from the A' range, with easy-to-use Program shooting, various scene modes and limited menus. This is a point-and-shoot camera for the masses rather than an enthusiast model."

Hi

Reviews arnt that good.....this from cameras.co.uk

"In my opinion a camera lives or dies on the quality of photos it produces. Therefore the Fuji Finepix A800 dies! I know it's pretty cheap, but if you are able to spend that bit more you will be able to buy yourself a much better digital camera"

Think the earlier Olympus was a better buy.

I found this when looking at the Olympus earlier. The 3 customer reviews on Amazon all gave it high marks, and it takes SD cards which is a plus for me. But would agree that the Olympus appears to be better.

I know they're more expensive, but any of the Canon deals with cashback would be better, the cheapest one (Powershot A560) comes in at £61.95. Only available until Monday though!

Why?

xD is as good as any other memory. Very few limitations unless you buy Tokyo knock-offs on eBay.

If you want a card to work properly, pay the money.

The A800 is hardly a pro camera. It's a domestic happy snapper - xD is perfect.
#13
I guess if you're a 'happy snapper' then don't be too bothered with reviews as a camera is a camera ... even my old 2 mp camera takes decent pictures.

Personally, if it's a casual snapper i'm after, looks and user interface are more important. And frankly this doesn't satisfy either.

Yeah - but its less commonly used - most people have got SD cards kicking about so it's an additional investment (and a waste of existing resources) to switch to XD.

I'm looking for a new compact digi and this would fit the bill except I would have to pay out another £20 for a Gig card.

This camera DOES use SD cards (as well as XD).
Also, is should be pointed out the price of £49.96 is before the £5 voucher is applied. So you can get it delivered to a Tesco store for £44.96. And maybe get a little quidco too.

Seconded. Ours arrived yesterday and it is top quality, uses sd. Excellent.

Just about to order but wondered if there is any way to lower the P&P charges? I seem to recall you could add something and get free delivery? My nearest deliver to store is too far away.

Got 3 for work and they were the A820 with 4x optical zoom instead of 3x

Mine came today. Box was the A800 but camera inside was the A820. Just looked on Fujis web site and they are nigh on the same apart from 4x optical zoom on the A820 as opposed to 3x zoom on the A800.

Did everyone receive A820's?

yep...:-)

Me too :-D
