Argos have the F45fd on a "less than half price" offer for £89.99 at the moment.
This is the Argos exclusive model with the same technical spec as the F40fd, just with a blue camera body instead of silver or grey.
The cheapest F40fd on pricerunner is £111.49 at the moment, so this offers a useful saving.
Sadly not available for home delivery, only to reserve online for store-pickup. Availability looked promising in my area when checked.

EDIT: Now only "half-price" at £99.99, so not so hot

Very good price!

I have had the F40FD since the middle of last year and it cost me £150 then and I can heartily recommend this camera compared to others I have owned. Produces excellent and consistent results.

I know the review states the "long life battery" but I wish it had a view finder so you can save on juice and not use the lcd all the time ...is there a similar class (and price) canon / casio exilim etc WITH view finder? all you camera buffs help out please

oh great - how do you rate the battery life? and are there any bad points to the camera that you know of?

Battery life IMO is superb. It comes with a separate battery and charger (bit like a camcorder battery) so is not compatible with standard AA's or other rechargeable batteries but once charged up it seems great - I don't use it that often and the standby time for the battery is great ie. still quite a high charge after weeks of non use. I was very impressed all round by this camera. I was particularly impressed with the ease of use and the shutter speed compared to a previous (Pentax so not a bad make) camera I had but this could just be the ongoing development of better digital cameras.

I like the fact its a Fuji (always good performers) but can take the standard SD cards as well as XD (which was I suppose a problem for earlier Fuji models) - I have a 1Gb SD card in there and can store hundreds of photos at the top res. I honestly can't find any faults with it.

I have the f20 and the battery last for over 300 shots!
I have had it since April and only charged it a handful of times.

Guys, out of this one and the Casio EX-Z75 which would be the better option? Thanks

Very good deal, voted hot.

Looks a really good camera.

Its on the homepage as one of this week's top deals which ends on 11th December.

When I reserve for pick up at my local store, it states can be ordered for collection from 12th-15th.

Does this mean I would definitely get it and if so, would the price be different?

A better option may be to go for the Fujifilm Finepix F47FD 9.0mp.
Currently going for less than £100 from Currys (free P&P + Quidco ) or PC World.
The Currys option will bring it to within £5 of Argos for the F45FD.

from what I see both the 45 & 47 have only the 1mp difference ...still a good deal - both

f47fd (9 megapixel version) is £99.89 and £94.90 after 5% off code, get 5% quidco for home delivery which is free so £90.16 delivered after code and quidco.

http://www.currys.co.uk/product/500/FO/935055.jpg

however...

I've just read the reviews on f45/47fd and they arent great, the panasonic DMC-FX12 seems alot better and same price on ebuyer. the panasonic has much better video quality too, there are .avi and quicktime videos on the net for each camera.

You can use the current £10 off £100 more on Currys and quidco, and it will bring the price down to approx £86 with Currys.

The camera on currys website is £99.97, so you need to add something else to your order to get it over £100, then the £10 discount works. The cheapest thing I found is some 2 AA batteries for £1.49.

I know this is entering purist territory but seems the reviews suggest 6-7.2Mp is the sweet spot for compact digital cameras and that they don't do as good a job with the 8-10Mp as SLR's do cos there's more love for the f31fd than for the f4xfd's ...I don't have a clue - just been reading too many reviews thassall. but anyway my mind's made up I'll get the f45 @ argos, technology moves too fast for anyone's good this days

I would check the reviews and make your own mind up. The Fuji is NOT 10x better - if at all - they have different strengths. The Casio is smaller, lighter and MUCH faster starting up (less than 1 sec compared to 3). The Fujifilm has a slightly better picture. Putney have both in store - and I'm going for cheaper, lighter, smaller and faster with a slight loss in performance - yes I am buying the Casio.

if you are picking this up after the promotion has ended then you will be charged the full price, i had the same problem when they were selling an lcd tv and when i went to pick it up it had doubled in price from the day before so i would phone and check before you pick it up to save yourself a trip :santa:

Yeah thanks Rosalie I realised that which is why I put this up as I was miffed about it! Hey ho. Good luck to everyone else.

Oh and by the way the F40fd (F45fd) has the best reviews of any Fuji F series just look on the net (Only bettered by F30). All the top review sites say it's got the best picture quality compared to other in it's field. I.e. Panasonic, Sony et al. So if you can get one well done!

I have also seen plenty of reviews saying the F31fd is better than the new F40fd/F45fd/F47fd camera, but you don't seem to be able to buy the F31fd any more. :-(

I think I will go for the F47fd from currys.
#26
I got a F47fd from Currys yesterday after browsing the Fuji website and seeing that it has a couple more features than the F45fd. Plus its a new model this year, whilst the F45fd is last years model.

Its great so far, and I'm a fan of Fuji cameras already. Its fast start up, quick picture tome and very easy to work out the different setting.
#27
Got text from Argos today saying it's been delivered. Wife has picked up and it's great! Bargain, thanks to poster and well done Argos!
#28
Price now £99.99, so not so hot a deal any more, but still cheaper than cheapest F40fd on pricerunner (£109.20 less 2%Quidco from Cameras2u)
