I really don't believe it. I only bought this camera 2 days ago and it was £126. Marvellous! Oh well... I think i'll still vote it hot though as its a good bit of kit.

I got mine of Amazon in the US for around t£10 less than this price in the summer. It is a superb camera and well worth the money

I picked up this camera from Amazon for £114
Its an excellant camera. Highly recommend.
I've tracked it on Amazon for a while and it usually sells at around £200

I bought an S5000 three years ago, following very light use and after warranty, the lcd screen died.

I now get a blue screen both on the lcd and through the eye piece.

This is a common fault - just a warning.

It was a good camera, but is no use to me now.

Just because its after the warranty doesn't mean they wont fix it for you, the product has to be fit for purpose a camera should last more than 12 months.

I would send it off with a snotty letter :)

Agree with Tom. I think you will find they will fix it for free no problem. Although I'd make my letter more polite and freindly than Toms ;-)

Very good price for the spec but not exactly pocket friendly! I do wonder where the market is for these bulky 'superzoom' cameras now that you can get similar or better spec from such as the excellent Panasonic TZ6/7 (albeit at a higher price).

Voted hot.

i pointed someone in the direction of this cam a few months back because they were looking for a cam with a viewfinder dont believe the tz6/7 has one
got a refurb from fuji (not a mark on the cam )with leather case and 4 gb card was 125 all in
seems like there is a market for these bridge cams

#14

This is £115 inc del. direct from Fuji using code P258BTCC467 (30% off new.) at https://secure.fujifilm.co.uk. This is posted on the btcc.net site and mentioned a few days ago by thefilbertfox.

Ps. I was looking at this camera originally, but I am being swayed by the FUJI F70EXR, which is £155 when bought with this voucher. This voucher brings the price of the new cameras down to lower than the standard refurb camera prices!

Oh no! I've had the s5000 for about 4 years now and have looked at this previously for an upgrade (c£200 price mark).

Having looked around that price, I thought Panny tz6 or tz7 would be more appropriate - now I'm stuck - hopeless at making decesions!

Is there any difference between the s1500fd on amazon and the s1500 advertised on the fuji site?

Great find Chris!

Great features but rubbish camera i think, the pictures it takes are terrible with very aggressive noise reduction so you get that watercolour effect. Any of the review sites have full size samples so id recommend to check them first and compare.

Even the best camera is no good if you don't have it with you. I think you're much more likely to slip the Panasonic in your pocket 'just in case' than to lug this brick around. Seems the Panny takes better pics too.

Proper Li-ion battery on Panny vs bulky AAs on this one would seal it for me.

Can it do RAW mode?

My problem with these cameras is that despite claims to the contrary they are poor at shooting in low light conditions. Having bought a S5800, for this money I'm looking at a used dSLR. Even the cheapest have full size CCD and can do above ISO200.

Nope no RAW mode, that would be too handy wouldnt it.

I've found no evidence of this through my use of the camera. Are you speaking from experience or hearsay?

Also, bear in mind that this is a bridge camera, not a DSLR. The whole idea is to try some of the more advanced features that a compact doesn't have without buying an expensive DSLR. I wanted a DLSR but couldn't justify the cost as I didn't know if I would use it enough to warrant the expense. Overall, I am very happy I went down the bridge camera route
