This camera has only just been brought out and is £429 at Jessops. It has had some great reviews for a superzoom, I bought one one for my African safari next summer- gives me plenty of time to learn how to use it! It is very similar to a DSLR but more affordable.

Only 2 left in stock now so be quick if you want to grab one (there were 11 when I checked about 3 days ago!)

That's a crazy comment. Sales on ebay are from Hongkong (VAT + import duty to be paid by the buyer). UK sales are £370+. Get your facts right sashicee.

I believe this camera is very good, better than any other compact on the market but not as good as a DSLR. Battery power is also a weakness, better get some extra.

The lens it's got is really on the telephoto end, no good at wide-angle.

This is the bigger brother to the F200EXR. I really like the EXR tech.

Unless I have read the specs wrong this camera still uses a compact rather than DSLR type sensor.. shame as with a DSLR sensor then it would be really good .... and would match an entry level DSLR....

While your correct in saying this isnt a Dslr it's definetly not a "compact" camera, it's a bridge camera it wont fit in your shirt pocket that's for sure:thumbsup:

This does have a larger than usual 'compact' sensor. From reviews I've read it does match entry level DSLR in some respects, But perhaps like you I wonder why no one makes a 'fixed-lens' camera with DSLR type sensor.

£330 at Amazon today.

I understand that the benefit of this over a budget DSLR is the zoom lens... budget DSLR tends to come with lens up to 55mm or 70mm zoom at a push whereas this bad boy is 436mm equivalent. Useful for those who want a telephoto zoom without shelling out hundreds for a lens

Horses for courses really. With this camera you lose the flexibility to swap lenses, it all depends what you want. Most purchases (unless you have unlimited funds) are compromises, the issue is which ones weigh for and against for your particular needs.

For me this camera represented a good choice as I wanted something more than a pocket camera that had good picture taking ability and had a long lens. I'd have bought a DSLR with a large lens if it wasn't for the cost. This camera gave me most of what I wanted and had a zoom lens included for less than the body/lens kit DSLR I was leaning towards.

Time will tell if the compromise was a good one. I bought the last in stock last night so thanks OP for the heads up on the price.
