Fujifilm FinePix S5700 Black [7MP, 10x optical, SD & xD compatible] - £113 delivered @ Amazon !

Description : The Fuji Finepix S5700 is an advanced camera featuring excellent optics, 7.1 megapixel resolution and ease of use. This specially-designed Fujinon optic gives you a zoom range of 38 mm - 380 mm, or 10 times magnification. The lens is tuned to give great macro results with a closest focussing range of 1 cm. It's ideal for close-up shots of flowers, insects, coins, jewellery, or anything that needs that extra bit of magnification. It gives you as much technical control as you want, while retaining automatic and program modes. The S5700 offers a recording resolution of 640 x 480 at 30 frames per second, meaning it can act as a first-class camcorder as well as a camera. It can zoom, expose and focus as you shoot, giving you up to 35 minutes movie on a 2GB card. The S5700 features an xD/SD compatible slot, allowing the use of either xD or SD cards. This will give you the flexibility to buy the card you want, use cards from previous cameras, or choose the media that fits with your other desktop devices like laptops, PDAs or card readers.

does this come with a re-chargeble battery

Takes 4 x AA batteries i'm still using my original set i put in (only 2000mah rechargeables) but took over 800 shots (3 kids plus world series by Renault day last month) with them so well impressed by consumption!

I've had a S5000 for about 4 years now and its still going strong, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another in this series, and this is a great price!!

i have the 5600 and its great alround. great for indoor shooting as most cameras have such a small lens pictures are dark even with flash. i'll think about this one once i check out whats different.

checked the difference and seems to be mainly resolution 7 rather than 5 megapixel and it takes a sd card as well. for most prints up to 8*10 i think 5 is more than adequet so wont be upgrading. great camera for anyone looking for a half decent one. cant fault it.

No. Then again it's big enough to hold steadily, or get a tripod.

Hmm, the review at TrustedReviews says it has got it, but it's pretty worthless because it sets ISO1600 and that has poor image quality on this camera, otherwise the camera is excellent.
#18
It has got anti-shake, its the next setting from auto on the dial on the top.

Ive got one of these and its top banana, i always struggled with my little pocket rocket digi cam, alas big hands and small cameras are not a matched made in heaven.

all the best

plus the £40 postage

Plus customs (which they always say you wont get charged but do three months later as both Fedex and UPS are customs targets and DO charge customs fees)
Plus zero warranty.

A review here lays out the good and bad, I'm very tempted...

Can anyone recommend a case for this camera?

+ £40 carriage + £40 approx. customs = £169 delivered, with a warranty that is difficult to claim on.

The Amazon price is very good, I had an S5500 several years ago, less features, small screen and the best price at the time was £240!
I only sold it to trade up to a digital SLR, if it hadn't been so bulky, I would have kept the Fuji as a pocket camera.

I would recommend this camera at this price.

Does anyone know what it is like for night shots, we have a Olympus at the moment and the shutter stays open for night shots when not using the flash, resulting in blurry images?
#25
Must resist. But my gadget region of my brain is going into hyperdrive. :)

I like this but the battery thing is really off putting.

Don't let it put you off, Badgers. 4 x AA batteries are so cheap to get these days, and you can get 15 minute chargers, which makes them incredibly convenient. And as another poster pointed out, you get tons of shots out each set of batteries.

I'd never go back to using more expensive lithium batteries (unless camera size was an issue) or bespoke batteries, since as your camera gets older it gets harder to get accessories for it.

This camera is great for the price. I bought it last month at Amazon for a tenner more.

For this money, you would be hard pressed to get anything as good.

I like a camera that takes AA batteries, it means that if you ever run out of charge you can get batteries easily wherever you are in the world rather than some more fancy system that means when it's flat you're stuffed.

I've got a the S5500 and have taken some good photos with it and it's fab zoom lens. It's a nailed on bargain for just over £100.

One is offered as the perfect partner on the original link. Buy both for £134.94. No picture though.

Thanks for the feedback on the battery thing.

I had been considering THIS camera as it is 10mp for under £100 but would like something better even if it has a few less pixels.

Hmmmm.....

Not sure :)

That camera won't even come close to this one, mate. The electronics might be half-way decent, but the optics don't even come close.

The first thing you learn about digital cameras is that mega-pixels aren't the most important part of the deal!

The S5700 is great in low light conditions, which many cheaper snappers don't handle so well.

Go for fuji every time!

Dont be tempted by a cheap camera just because it has got 10 mpixels. That doesnt count for diddly unless you are blowing up all your photos onto A4 or bigger.
The 5700 is far superior to any Benq rubbish.
I've got a 5600 and it's fab, not different enough to warrant getting the 5700 though.
This is a really good price..... get it.

The S5600 can output images in .raw format, whilst the s5700 only outputs .jpg, which is a shame, but for most folk won't make a difference.

Although this camera has 10x optical zoom as opposed to the benq's 3x optical zoom.

Anyone used this camera in video mode at all? I am just curious how good/bad this is as at video capturing.

I have the 5600 and the video quality is very good indeed, you cant zoom during filming on the 5600 but i believe in the new model you can, more than adequate quality for tv playback, infact looks perfect on my tv!

The specs do look good on this, but I noticed one thing, a max exposure time of only 4s? Thats very short :?
#40
Very short for what - it's not a full DSLR after all.
