I can't think that there is going to be a lot of difference between the 5800 and the 5700 which is only £100.49 at Amazon. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fuji-FinePix-S5700-Digital-Camera/dp/B000PH5IWI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1202101192&sr=1-3 for the ordinary user.

They are all good cameras though so I guess it's down to budget and personal choice.

Voted HOT because whichever you choose these cameras are excellent for the price.

Hey Mucky ! Thought they did have some form of image stabilisation ??

Not too hot on tech stuff but seems to make slight reference to it on the fuji site ??

After a bit of reading they seem to have some 'anti blur' tecnology built in(summat to do with automatically adjusting ISO settings:?) rather than an image stabalising button(like my Panny)

Anyways, the price is great for what you get:thumbsup:

no its its not DSLR, it's a 'bridge' camera - trying to be half way between compact camera and bulky SLR. I looked at one but then thought stuff it and went for full SLR - Nikon D40.
I imagine it's fine for that price tho

Is it not worth paying a bit more for this one at £179.99

http://www.jessops.com/Store/s67238/0/Digital-Compact-Cameras/Fujifilm/Finepix-S8000-FD-Digital-Camera/details.aspx?tduid=d4bcc1fc1a14798359282cbd70828bdc&url=http://www.jessops.com/Store/s67238/0/Digital-Compact-Cameras/Fujifilm/Finepix-S8000-FD-Digital-Camera/details.aspx

I think there is a voucher that takes it down to £169.99.
Seen it in tesco for £199.99.

Is the s8000fd a better camera than the s5800?.

I have this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Eneloop-Charger-inc-AA-Batteries/dp/B000IDWDOA/ref=pd_bbs_sr_4?ie=UTF8&s=gateway&qid=1202163152&sr=8-4
Also bought these:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Eneloop-AA-Pack-Batteries-2000mAh/dp/B000IDUOQO/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=gateway&qid=1202163152&sr=8-1

These batteries last VERY long (longer than anything I used so far, hybrios included). Highly recommeded!

If you're on a limited budget, go for these instead (good value/performance for the price): http://www.amazon.co.uk/Uniross-Hybrio-Charger-2100mAh-Batteries/dp/B000KG5G5S/ref=pd_bbs_7?ie=UTF8&s=gateway&qid=1202163152&sr=8-7

Fujifilm are horrificly **** compared to other camera makes (e.g. olympus, cannon, nikon etc). If you have used a decent branded camera you will find this unbareable. If you havent owned a decent camera and are in anyway a photography enthusiast this junk will probably put you off taking photos for life.

If you are just using the camera for point and click and arn't really into photography... buy a compact made by a decent brand, rather than a 'bridge style' camera made by fuji-junk

What are your photography credentials to back these claims?

Most reviews (Steves Dgicams etc. ) rate Fuji quite well - I know some of these have a vested interest to talk up all brands but the customer reviews & the pictures I've seen posted seem to back up the good reviews.

Youve just obv bought a bad camera - fuji and olympus are sorta samey when it comes to cameras

bottom line is this camera any good as the price is great. I had a fuji fine pix a while back and the pictures were not great but i thought it was just human error rather than the camera. Please advise

Previously used the canon ixus 450i, bought the s5700 - having taken the time to try different settings and learning about ISO settings, I think the S5700 I have takes great photo's, yeah a canon eos400d does a little better, but my camera was at the £100 end of the spectrum not the £400....it isn't what you might call a point and click, still use the ixus for that, but mine boots quickly, takes fabulous outside shots. Read on line reviews, price v's performance there isn't anything else coming close.....just say purple fringing, that'll get someone going.
