Makro are selling the Fuji S8000fd for £99.99 + VAT at the moment, ok so not quite as cheap as a refurb from Fuji at £99.99 + Delivery, but this is brand new. My local store in Leeds say they are getting more stock in on Monday also. They also had the S5800 for £69.99 + VAT (£80.49) and the S1000fd for £99.99 +VAT (£114.99).

I've had about 6 cameras from Fuji that have been classed as Reconditioned all have been brand new only difference from new is they come with a 6 month warranty instead of a 12 month warranty again I've never had a camera from Fuji thats has gone wrong ....ever.

I have this model and it is great unless you are a photo anorack then you will not use all the features and it takes great pictures
I paid £140 from ebuyer so this looks a good price
It is the old model but the S8000SD got better reviews than the S8100SD which replaced it

Same here got my recon S8000 from Fuji a while back, no complaints, apart from the box it was as new.

Aparently the only weak point at the S8000 is the program dial keeps falling off (which is not covered by the warranty). If that had been addressed by Fuji (or at least covered by the extended warranty), the S8000 would have been a classic model and probably one of the best cameras they produced, just a few points behind the S6500. The price is good.

If the dial falls off then surely it should be covered shouldn't it as it's a manufacturing defect, I mean I can understand if you break it off but not if it falls off?

Had an S8000fd for more than eight months and nothing has fallen off so far...

Good camera. Good price.

Just to add, I jave had no problems with my dial either. Doesn't even feel weak to me

Thanks for that was worried that the dial may fall off after doing a search online but glad to hear its sturdy on those of you that have it. One question though, what is the best memory card for this? The reason I ask is that my dad has the 5700 and he has had problems with SD cards (a cheap one and a Sandisk Extreme III) both suddenly couldnt be read by the camera after taking pics and the images had to be rescued. He sent the camera to Fuji who said there was nothing wrong with it. Has anyone had a similar experience with the S8000fd? Is it better to use a XD card or will a decent SD card do, I was thinking of getting a 2GD Sandisk Extreme III as they are about £14.99 on play.com, but could anyone recommend a better one?

Used several different makes of SD and SDHC card in mine with no problems (Sandisk, Kingston and MyMemory own brand).

It is also xD compatible but I wouldn't bother with those (cost v size, much more expensive than SD and slower data transfer rate)
