  Would have been a good price. Quite a few people like myself have been put off by the orb issue which hasn't been fixed in firmware. Lot of people still love the camera, whereas in one or two forums they have gone nuts over the orb issue. Was suprised to read in some comparisons though that the performance is similar or even lesser than the Canon G11/12 and consequently that made me feel there was little advantage in upgrading. Some interesting compacts being launched this year, several with near SLR sized sensors but I wish they could concentrate on reducing shutter lag. Would be great to have a fast operating street cam.

  True. I’d have been interested, a] had it not been for the orb thing; b] had it not been for the fact that I’ve recently obtained three bulk rolls of HP5+ and have gone back to my Nikon F4 for the while; c] on days I still use digital, I’m now setting my Olympus E-P1 totally manual – manual exposure, manual focus (presetting it as zone focus, and using hyperfocal if I can get it to f8 or higher in these dull days!) and consequently newly enjoying that camera and an unhindered speed and swiftness of street photog done my way in a “use the force, Luke” kind of manner; and d] I seem to have inadvertently effected the purchase of one of those MacBook Pros that were on here last night, so that’s enough spendy action for the while (which brings me to the problem of how I can make a refurbed MBP appear more like an existing knackered white MacBook, so wife doesn’t notice the new purchase — you know the usual story*).
  
  * most of my umming and arring about the X10 hasn’t been about the orb issue, but rather, of sneaking one of these X10s into the house without my wife noticing. Fortunately, I own a wide range of cheap non-interchangeable-lens rangefinders, but none of them are black!

  Re the HP5, are you developing it yourself or taking it/sending it somewhere? I have a load of film and a Nikon F90. Used to develop them myself years ago but no longer have the gear so was looking at either buying or finding somewhere to get processed and then scan myself (Epson V700)
  
  The X10 really excited me as the X100 was a bit too expensive and tbh although I have prime lenses in reality zooms are much more flexible for me. I've tried street photography with my G11 which is a lovely camera but a little too slow for spontaneous street work. I was disappointed to read that the x10 offers little benefit if any over the G11 for mosty of what I would do. Got to wait for somnething else to come on the market, maybe their new 'pro' compact. The new Canon compact G1 pro again is slower in operation than the G11!

  I wouldn't worry about the ORBs thingy,
  It's a beautiful looking camera, takes lovely pictures and the Orb thing is massively overrated. Had mine for a month and had to struggle to notice it in one picture.
  This is a good price as it's hovered at about £410 for a while. You can get it from Jessops with 6 months interest free too (price at mo £420)

  Shutter lag on the NEX-5N is only 0.022s faster than a Nikon F6 film camera.
