this seems like a good deal for an i3 processor,
i think it may have bluetooth as well if its same one as amazone which is around £400 mark inc. del.
any voucher codes available for staples would be helpful?

only code that works is the £10 off bringing it down to £343.54
and &.7.07% of topcashback will make it around the £320 mark (roughly calculate)
i am looking to buy this , any advice/comments appreciated.
thanks

Looks pretty good to me, heat added. Wouldn't bother with the extra charge for 'ordercare', Rabialioness: allows you to return the laptop anytime within first 12 months for full refund, provided its unopened and unused - whats the point in that?

@rabialioness,

I just purchased and then RETURNED the laptop from staples.

The laptop is actually very good value for a top of the line 1ST GEN i3 processor (especially as i got it knocked down to 325 GBP). The general specs are good, it's quiet in operation, light and reasonably well made, the screen and keyboard perfectly acceptable, and battery life good (about 4 hours, rather than the 6 hours claimed). It also looks quite good too but a bit of a fingerprint magnet. Also virtually no bloatware installed.
BUT the speakers are really awful (much worse than 'normal' for this budget/ price point). I wasn't expecting miracles in a laptop, but they had very little volume, absolutely NO bass (nor much midrange), but lots of treble - the effect was that you had to push the volume up to about 75% to hear anything in a normal living room environment, and then you got a really squeaky/ tinny unnatural sound. In addition, the high volume setting caused the sound to distort, and frankly gave me a headache. I spent hours fiddling with the sound setting, and whilst it improved a little, it was still bad. In the end, I gave up and reluctantly took it back under the 14 day satisfaction guarantee - NOTE: fantastic customer service at Staples-South Harrow.

Yes, I could have used headphones or got separate speakers, but whilst that's fine on occasion - for watching DVDs or using your laptop as a stereo - it's not acceptable for the every day uses, like iplayer/skype/youtube etc - my 6yr old Fujitsu (RIP) and my wife's business laptop have much much better speakers. However, the sound via headphones is fine and to put things into perspective, most Acer laptops seem to have only 1 speaker, at least this had 2! But conversely, i saw a HP in PC World for the same price that had only marginally poorer processor and had excellent speakers.

In Summary, If you want a student/business laptop AND are happy to use headphones/speakers most of the time, it is a good buy, but it was not suitable for me.

lol @ the snobs turning their noses up at an i3 for around £320.

37th @ http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmarklist.2436.0.html (restrict to notebook cpu to filter out desktop cpu) and positioned above some i5/i7 iterations.

Look at cheapest i5 laptop see price difference if not that much and CPU scores higher buy i5.

this is a great price. i'm gonna go in store and try for the 60 pounds trade in for my old laptop.

This is one of the better i3 processors out there.
