up to 2 hours battery life only?

up to 2 hours battery life only?

This laptop seems to be letdown by its poor battery life!
#4
It's the graphic card that does that.
I have a different Fujitsu-Siemens with a nice graphics card in and it drains the power a lot more than my friend who has the same type but with the integrated graphics card.
Lovely laptops though.
#5
How does this compare to the Samsung R505 at argos?
#6
3kgs! That's a brick...
#7
Quality laptop HOT HOT HOT!!!
#8
a vastly under rated laptop. The processor is quite decent and has both L2 and L3 cache. Hybrid crossfire graphics and blu-ray player. Great bang for buck.

I've got a Fuhitsu siemens. Very sturdy laptops ... this one looks like a bargain !
#10
Does anyone know what the sound quality is like?
#11
Hmm, tempted by this one now, wanted the Samsung offer from Argos but they have no stock in. Is there not a reserve and collect option? I can't seem to find one and wouldn't mind getting this today.
#12
wow, a bluray laptop for under £400? what a bargain. pretty big hdd for a laptop too
#13
my last fujitsu split in 2 places and the battery hardly lasted more than an hour. other than that it was good
#14
Whats the likelihood of getting a better graphics card in a laptop at this price or is this a complete one off?
#15
Okay, heads up people. I just went into my local store to see if I could pick one up, they can only order them from instore for you to go and pickup, so you can either avoid a delay in the free delivery option or forking out for the delivery. I've ordered mine today and its ready for pick-up on wednesday.

I will give it a quick review on the day I get it.
Heat and Rep added. Nice find, a good alternative to the Samsung offer which is murder to find in stock.
#16
This is better than the samsung, better cache , better HD, with blueray support.
#17
thats what i thought, better proccessor, same graphics card but TWO of them but it keeps going cold...
#18
#19
This must be an absolute bargain? The same laptop at tesco is £549 reduced from £699. See link

http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.204-1650.aspx

Can someone clarify how much of a bargain this is. The heat is not very hot!

Fujitsu has the better processor
GFX cards are about the same maybe more to the geforce
better HD on the Fujitsu + blue ray support

Thats a very nice GFX card compared to this one, although this laptop has two of the same.

Heres a comparrison guide, nice find but this has blu-ray and a new range of proccessor whilst the acer has a far better gfx card

Thanks for the advice MentaL and JadeFox.

There seem to be a lot of pretty good deals around at the moment i have just found another possibility.

The Samsung R505 from Argos. £399 also.

Ahh this is the one i think ppl are refering to, i dont know anything of the proccessor, cant find any info on it.

No blu-ray drive, Same gfx card as this laptop, but as i said before this has TWO, Smaller hard-drive, and this has a 15in1 card reader where the 505 has 3 in 1, id say this is a better buy but i dont know why people arent finding this hot. the 505 is almost 1000 degrees and this is sturggling 150 :/

fujitsu is better

For pure specs wise I would say the Acer is better and you also get £50 cash back to spend there later. This laptop is still good and has blu-ray, which may pull some people, depends on what you are after at the end of the day.

I thought the dual core 2 duo were better than their AMD counterparts? This link also suggests the same as the T5750 is in 59th whilst this ZM-80 is in 74th. Have to say the graphics card on the acer is better as well.
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmarklist.2436.0.html

This laptop is still a good spec though and amazingly it has blu-ray.

The Samsung says RM-72 but there is an RM-70, 76th in the link above. The ZM-80 is a step above L2 cache wise anyhow, it does make a slight difference.

The processors are about the same, the edge might go to the c2d.The c2d would also run cooler and take less battery imo. The graphics on the acer are far better but there is some rumour about problems with the graphics card., This laptop has a bluray drive, and for under 400 thats pretty good. Depends on what you want,

Seems like a lot of lappie for the money.

Would this do 1920 x 1080 via HDMI? Does it have a digital output for hooking to an av-amp?
banned#29
get the ACER ASPIRE 5920 G LAPTOP!!!

http://hotukdeals.com/item/303554/acer-aspire-5920-g1-399-99-exclude-/

it has a better graphics card, better battery life and doesnt weigh 3kg!
btw why would you need a Blu-Ray player on a 15 inch screen, you wont even notice the difference beteen blu ray and DVD!

Acer Aspire is the hotter deal in my opinion, it plays Call of Duty 4 without any probs, unlike the Fujitsu laptop!

Most laptops with HDMI can do 1080p, all depends (Correct me if im wrong please) on the GFX card. Ive seen laptops with Atom proccessors play 1080p due to the fact it had a brilliant gfx card. So for smoother playback id reccommend a good gfx.

Correct me if im wrong but wont the fact your plugging a laptop into a HDTV give you the overscan problem? im having this problem at the moment, left and right edges are cut off and it gives you that 'letterbox' feel (2 black borders at the top and bottom)

Why not just set your laptop resolution to your tv resolution when you connect it to your tv?

Have done, but i still get problems, they never end :( the CCC software that come with ATi cards have an overscan compensation feature but all it does is shrink the picture, so you can make the picture fit but you still get bigger black borders :(

Yes the Acer has a better graphics card. But as the power consumption from the Acer (due to GCard) will be higher as the power spec for the rest of the system will be all but the same (presuming Acer are telling the truth) the battery capacity must be bigger. So that must mean the Acer is even worse built than we first thought.
As for Bluray many people will want it for connecting to there TV.

I have the samsung, only had it a couple days but seems to be a nice machine for £400.

Although the fujitsu posted here is a higher spec.

Wouldn't have another Acer if you paid me, My 1st acer melted, 2nd one, lots of issues with cooling and hard drive, customer support useless AVOID ACER - now a proud owner of a Fujitsu - build quality alone is 2nd to none compared to the Acers I've had.

I suspect there will be quite a few available soon. Besides the 3470 is decent but not great. Overall good value for money.

Don't forget 8% quidco if ordering.

Using something like "powerstrip" (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=169) should fix your problem. It allows custom resolutions and refresh rates to be defined which will match your tv exactly.

Funny you should mention this, just tried it and unistalled it :P , Resolutions didnt work and it wont let you 'stretch' the picture, only move it :/
