I wonder if they will still let me keep the 4000 mins, 5000texts and 4gb data for £1 per month that I got a few months back when they switch. I signed up 3 sims at the time.

I don't know if I should stick with the 5.95 plan or upgrade to the 4G special! Part of me wants access to 4G just because I have a nice phone to go with it, but I have no idea what to expect from them in regards to speed I already get 15-20mbit on 3G in my area.

Does anyone know what speeds MVMO's get from EE? Is it worth the upgrade?

Consistent 15-20mb on 3G sounds fine, I would not bother!

What's the TCB mini tariff?
If choosing the mini tariff, it is direct with LIFE so you can go via TopCashback (TCB) and get £5.05 back.

Ooh, didn't know about the Plusnet offer. Thanks!

It was only £1 a month for 6 months pal then full price so I doubt it will stay £1 a month after the switch

I'm on the £1 a month deal too for the 4gb sim but tempted knowing it won't last long to go for the £10 a month 4g sim. I'm also a Plusnet customer already so wonder if there will be any existing customer deals.

You can easily get any 'exclusive' via Quidco/TCB.

Just check the tariff number on the web (select any tariff via quidco/tcb - then change the tariff number, in the web address - e.g. to 100 to get the £5.95 )

"and on the 29th November will merge with Plusnet Mobile"

Plusnet mobile doesn't exist and won't until 29th Nov so I don't know how it can be called merging.

They all belong to BT so the real question is is Life Mobile just being called Plusnet or are Plusnet going to be providing services and management for Life Mobile customers?

In my experience Plusnet are pretty crap, incompetent and I don't think I have had a customer services call answered with less than 15 minutes wait. Seems BT are true to form and using their acquisition of EE to provide less service for more money. Can't see an upside in any of this so cold from me.

From what they have told me on the phone and after looking at their twitter feed, it seems like they are just changing the name so that it falls under plusnet's brand.

The call centre team have confirmed that they will still be handling the customer service side, who for me have always been very friendly and quick to resolve any issues. From the billing side, Plusnet will be taking over and handling everything which isn't that good given their reputation.

I don't think there is going to be any immediate change other than the carrier name changing on your device.

I am however worried about EE deciding to lower the priority of the MVMO traffic which will never end well.
Although the contracts are only 30 days, so you can always leave the service if it goes down hill.

I am have the same deal for £1 per month but no data at all, has been complaining, but still didn't work. Wondering if Plusnet will be have any better customer service and will do something with issues around mobile broadband

I'm on a 4G plan from Life already. My speeds were adequate on 3G and I have a feeling my 4G speeds seem to be capped at around 25 MB.

Found Plusnet CS truly diabolical.

hi - whats the customer service like? I've had my kids phones with TalkTalk for a couple of years and it drives me insane trying to communicate with them!! They've offered me a great deal to stay (U/L Texts and 2GB - £5/mth), but if I think I'd rather give another company a try. Cheers

Am on the uswitch tariff but not currently making a lot of use of it. If I move down to the mini tariff would I be able to switch to one of the exclusive tariffs in future, or would it have to be taken as a new contract?

I've loved using Life Mobile for our mobiles, customer service has been great too.

But Plusnet are awful in every way. Support is worse than even AOL where. Now leaving 'plusnet mobile' even if it will cost a little more before it goes down the pan!!

Surprised with the negativity towards Plusnet. I moved away from them in June only due to wanting fibre; I'm connected to an exchange which isn't even on the list to be considered for fibre. But for the majority of the 13 years I was with them (save for their outsourcing screw up in 2005) I found them far far better than any other customer services I have dealt with.

Going to try the plusnet option and see how it compares to my 3 contract which is up for renewal. Now if you want an example of a CS catastrophe, 3 are a shining example.

I also found Plusnet outstanding; customer service and support was efficient. I also moved due to a fibre situation and would've stayed with them if not for that.

I have 2 Sims with Life...OUTSTANDING.

And 3 Sims with TalkTalk.....NIGHTMARE! I only persist with them because I get 1500 mins & 2.3Gb data on each one for £3.95/month.

I think the worst #1 company in UK for customer service level is Vodafone - totally crap! I have been with them for 8 years, no signal in my town, when I moved to different network they offered nothing special to keep me.
#26
I have nothing but praise for Life, having been with them for almost a year. UK customer service (but not live chat, as that's offshore) is fantastic. They will switch you to any of these tariffs if you email or call them. I've switched twice now with no hassle. The prices are amongst the lowest I've seen for any network.

3G speeds and coverage are consistently good and fast enough for tethering (which is unusually allowed on PAYG). The only thing that didn't work was roaming, but they fixed that by cancelling it and re-applying it whilst I was abroad. Plus you get a 2G signal, which you won't get on Three or iD.
#28
I don't understand the negative comments about plus net. I have been with them for many years now and find them very good. It's not just me either, they are consistently high up in the broadband provider surveys.

Just off the phone to Life

Got my free upgrade from 3G to 4G

Been on the Unlimited, Unlimted, 6GB for 6 months at £13.45

Continuing at £13.45 with 4G

Life Mobile customer service is the best in my opinion
In the 11 months in total with them, I've yet to sense an ego in any of them. So friendly and helpful

Love Life

I'm on the £1 deal and the email from Life said same tariff will continue. But when I got it they said 6 months. So don't know what will happen when next DD due in Dec.

The 3G has been terrible from Life. It's on GPRS or even EDGE a lot of the time.

I'd never seen the 'E' on a smartphone before !!!!

I have seen today the same on EE, but temporary in one specific location, but you can't say that they are terrible

Couldn't agree with you more by far Vodafone is the worst customer support ever!

But for the majority of the 13 years I was with them

For the majority of those 13 years Plusnet were not owned by BT were they. Internally they are (jokingly) known as BT Sheffield. Management just care about getting promoted within the now much bigger organization, and they can do that in typical BT style by demonstrating how good they are at saving money by giving customers less less for theirs.

BT bought plusnet in January 2007, so they were owners for more than half of the 13 years I was with them. I appreciate things may not be as good as they were for you, but in this post-truth world please get your facts right.

December will be the 6th month so it's from January we have to wonder what they will charge us. Until the move to Plusnet happens it's probably not worth asking them as it will be down to Plusnet as to how much they want to charge us after our 6 months is up.

Yes, I can say 3g on Life has been the worst I've seen. Like I said, I'd never seen E on a smartphone before ... mostly it's on H (not even H+) and sometimes on G.

I'll be glad for 4g on plusnet or its back to Three.

An update of my recent upgrade from 3G to 4G

The only thing I miss on Life Mobile is having a WIFI calling app on my phone like I had on O2.
