i bought one of these years ago! was a b*st*ard to fit but looked really cool after. also made the ds more lightweight as the plastic is different to the original silver.

Great just what i needed after my youngest broke his silver housing last week. Opted for the blue and a tingram screwdriver set to repair it. Hoooooow hard can it be lol :-)

Heat added for the site alone ;-)

how hard, its very hard and fiddly. I fitted one, just take your time and watch the ribbons. looked brill when finished.

On another note correct me if I m wrong but the OP's avatar, would that not cause a epileptic fit. it gives me a sore head and i suffer from bad headaches.

It's sad going thru DX deals and coming out with what's 'the best'. Like going thru Poundland and finding the clothes pegs of the day :)

Does anyone know if this comes with hinges aswell? my brother broke one of the hinges on his ds earlier. The screen is hanging off on one side.

I'd stay well away from this. There are no instructiosn with it, and for certain parts you need a special small screw type tool to open up.

ONLY BUY IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!

The screwdriver set works out at 50p odd so add it aswell ;-)

Also reading the reviews i dont think it comes with hinges.

To tackle the case you need a triwing scewdriver, this has three wings instead of the normal 4 you get on a crosshead screwdriver.

as well as a small crosshead.

I bought one of these via eBay and it was too pointy so it would not grip the screws and so I ended up buying another from a dealer in the UK so buying the cheapest is not the best policy.

You can find instructions on how to disasemble/reassemble you DS here (11 minute video)

or in pictures here http://www.consolesandgadgets.com/catalog/information.php/info_id/9

and here http://site.powergamingparts.com/RepairNDS.html

and if you need repairs and cannot do them yourself then I would recomment this guy who repaired my granddaughters when it would not boothttp://www.videogamerepairs.co.uk/links/details.asp

I hope this helps someone

Hi Justaddwater! my daughter broke the hinge on her ds & I bought a case (a blue one) from deal extreme & it has stopped hers from falling apart & even after nearly 2 months is still in one piece. think it was about £2.50ish. but well worth it. btw, hubby had already replaced her case with a light blue one from deal extreme. took about 3 hours to take apart & fit but looked excellent afterwards. follow the instructions on youtube & take your time. & make sure you have a magnet handy for any pins & springs that go flying!!

Fitted my nippers this week and its great he loves it in blue now :-)

Followed a video on tube showing how to take apart, took me about 1 1/2 hours to do. Only thing is they show you how to take apart but not to put back together lol, and on the tube you cant play the vid in reverse LOL !
