Got to be a bargain, don't need one myself, although might see about getting one for school in case ours dies before I get 'round to transferring all the videos to DVD!

* NTSC playback.

the uk standard is PAL, does this mean it will only play NTSC (mostly american) video's?

I was under the assumption that meant it "also" played NTSC videos - from memory it was a fairly standard feature for VCRs? Assume that as it's sold for the UK market it will be PAL?

FAB thanks,: was going to buy in argos for £35

I don't get it. What is this? Does it play DVDs?

;)

lol - what is this. Good price, but I don't see the point in owning one any more, unless you really want to play videos.

Reasonable point sam1970, but if somebody wants to buy new with a 1 yrs guarantee then this "was" a good deal. As shellyr stated, she was going to pay £35 from Argos for a VCR - she's now saved £20. I bought one of these for a friend who was in the process of transferring their videos to DVD when their VCR died. I looked on pricerunner and the next cheapest price was nearly £60 - this was £15.59. I thought it was a good deal worth posting and as they've now sold out, others must have also thought it was worth going for too. However, I accept that carboot sales can give you excellent finds, but not everybody has access/availability or the time to get to them for some cracking deals - hence this site.

Seeing as it's now out of stock, here's my tip.

My mum gets me to test the local Oxfam electricals, the one she works at sells high end Sonys, Pannys etc. for the same price, and no-namer stuff like this for a fiver.

I got them to grab a nice black late-nineties Sony complete with jog-wheels and high end posh features. If the gear isn't working then you get your money back.

Yes, this has a year warranty, but I can't see many people willing to post off a broken £10.90 VCR. I'm only guessing, but I don't reckon in-home service will be included :)

BTW, the one she helps out in get all sorts of semi-interesting stuff - '80s computers, Game Gears, modded PlayStations etc.

P.S..... MONO?!!? :giggle: Fine for CCTV, I guess.

On a serious note, what is the quality of VHS like through a Full HD TV?

Same as a non-HD set. You haven't got this HD thing figured out yet then?!

It doesn't look like it has a record function?

I would almost certainly go for it otherwise.

mentions widescreen recording and playback on the listing.
