From the writer's of League of Gentlemen and Eastender's comes a dark comedy set in the seaside resort of Blackpool. Following the story of Dudley and Lola, who go on holiday to rekindle their love life, Funland unveils the dark secrets that have been buried for over 20 years. When Dudley plays a game of poker everything starts to go down hill and a new arrival in town sparks arguments amongst certain residents. This series introduces us to dark characters such as Shirley Woolf and his business obsessed mother who will not stop at anything to get what she wants. It is a dark comedy that sucks the viewer into the dysfunctions of the Woolf family and cleverly overlaps the story of each of the characters.
There is more to this seaside town that meets the eye but it keeps you gripped to your seat to find out the deep dark secret that is revealed at the end. Even though Funland is dark there are still moments that will make you laugh including Dudley's hopeless attempt in giving Lola what she wants. If you loved League of Gentlemen or just want something a little different then this is a must see.
