My house mate has this freeview box in his room running off an indoor aerial and has no complaints whatsoever. It has a programme guide too which enables you to see what is on throughout the day.

One word of warning though. Anybody without a TV liscence beware as when purchasing a freeview box from argos the TV liscence company are alerted!:pirate:

True, when I bought a freeview box from Argos they asked for my address.

Hi Edi,

Good find IMHO particularly as this has an Interactive Red Button. Most Freeview Receivers in this sort of price range do not/did not have one of these as standard. Shame there's only one SCART but at this price you cannot complain really .

Kind Regards.

I have a freeview box myself which I actually bought from argos and they never asked me for my addres. However, my housemate ordered his from argos online and I assume thus how they got his address - they sent a letter and came round to find he did have a liscence, a complete waste of paper and time on their part!:pirate:

Just purchased the Wharfdale from Argos this AM @29.99, after reading reviews, for the kitchen magic lantern. Looking up the line now to replace my Pace digital reciever to power the TV room (Toshiba) idiot cinema box.

The Wharf is ok for a cheepy thro' away unit. And yes - they did log my address details.

I got a TFT computer monitor from Sainsburys and I had for fill out a TV license form once. But yes it's law to provide your address when buying anything that will pick up a TV signal. However you can give any address you like out as the dont need to ask for ID.

The write up at Digital Spy does not rate this box, other boxes for an extra £10 or so receive a better write up.

In life, my friend, you only get what you pay for. The Wharfdale got better reiews than the Fusion - 'tis why i bought it. Neither would set the world on fire. Edi, Gr8 post, thank you- that is what the site is about - people can make up their minds accordingly - I did, inspired by the OP. Thanx.

This should happen at any place where you buy TV's, DVD Players/Recorders and Freeview boxes.

If the seller doesn't take your name and address they can be fined £1000 (or £2000 - I don't remember).

Whoever it was that said they bought one from Argos without them taking their details - I am not sure how you achieved this (unless bought online) as the till system will not progress with the sale until the details have been taken. If the automatic process was down, we had little white forms that had to be manually filled out on collection before you could take the item.

The only way around the till system is for the assistant to put in their own name and address or the stores, both of which can land them with a disciplinary.

As I said, this happens at all stores where this kind of item is sold. It's a pain in the arse, but it is the law.

Yes, it should. If you have a decent enough indoor freeview aerial there is no reason why it shouldn't.
