Pretty poor value for me. Isn't solar powered or radio controlled timing (waveceptor).
For me, without these functions, it's not a proper G-Shock and should cost considerably less. It's just a digital watch in this form.
G-shocks for £35 is poor value for you? OMG

There was a global Waveceptor device with solar power on here last week for very little more which makes it poor value.
Solar means you don't have to take it easy on the backlight to extend battery life. It just works.
Waveceptor means it tells the time accurately. When out of range of the atomic clock, my gshock watches are actually quite poor at keeping time. The nightly reset of the time is massively beneficial and turns an average timepiece into an accurate watch.
Otherwise. It's just a digital watch. Unless you work in a magnet factory.
Pleased to hear that you are a G-Shock fan...but I think you may need to get out more:-))

Solar can have its drawbacks, this has a battery that will last for the best part of a decade if taking it easy on the backlight.

It has enough features for most users and is both accurate & reliable whilst withstanding dirt, dust, impacts and water.

Hot from me.

Those features, whilst nice, cost a lot more and aren't what make it a G-shock at all - this meets the original brief of being shock and magnetic proof with good water resistance.

Had this watch for nearly ten years (paid a similar price on amazon) and still on the same battery. Its indestructable and the world time has been very useful when travelling. Oh and the back light keeps my one year old entertained lol!

I havd this watch for over 2 years and have found it to be hardy and the waterproof feature very useful. I got it at the time from Argos xbay at a little less than this so worth a look there as well.

Managed to buy a G7900-1ER for £16.99 delivered from Argos ebay recently. I normally only buy ones with Tough Solar/Radio control but it was too cheap to turn down.

I tried to post the deal on here but someone bought 40 leaving only 1 in stock.

Agreed this is a good price. Regarding solar I've had a G-Shock tough solar battery fail after 5 years but my battery only Casio is still running on the factory fitted battery! http://www.javys.com/casio/series.php?series_id=FC0002

The solar units use an expensive Panasonic battery that costs £15-£20 pound for the a replacement part + fitting costs.

I know what you mean. Even the option to have the day and date instead of month and date would suffice!

However, I can't moan as I got mine for only £17 from Argos eBay via a post on here a couple of years ago - and it's on the same battery and no problems with time accuracy (I do have an "radio controlled" Citizen eco-drive as well so do appreciate those features, particularly as that's not worn everyday so is always ready to go).

I have had several g shocks one being solar which was totally useless for my job offshore as it doesn't get chance to recharge.

That was a great find. My £17 one is a AW-591MS, but I prefer yours!

Can somebody recommend a Casio with radio controlled time? What about the WV-200E?

A G-Shock is about it's ruggedness, not the features. £34 for a proper G-Shock is still pretty good.

35 looks about right for a low end looking gshock.

Most G-Shock's in the range actually don't have those features, especially at this price and they are excellent watches. It's far more than just a run of the mill digital watch, they use good quality components and are well constructed.

Yes but the watch will need armbands as G-Shocks are quite poor swimmers.

You are absolutely clueless, pal. G Shocks are designed to resist mechanical shock and vibration. You can practically do anything with one on, and it will keep going - its all about toughness and durability.

Solar power and radio controlled timing are just nice extras - but without these features a g shock is far from "just a digital watch" - that's a ridiculous statement.

Argos description states:
"You can also store web and email address and keep them safe with a secret pin code."

Not sure I'd ever need to but here's a review that demonstrates it:

Just noticed, this one actually says "10 year battery" on the dial!

I'm sure it's a good deal but it looks 'cheap' (and less rugged) compared to other G-Shock watches... might just be the photography though, and obviously it's just my opinion.

I have this watch. it is very good. I like the 5 alarms which I find really useful. if it lasts anywhere near 10 years I'll be very happy.

I would definitely recommend it

Yes, it was useless for my job as a coal miner too. And I commute on the tube...

I like Casio- I've had loads of their watches over the years- but I just wish they'd get rid of the gimmicky animated features on the dials and give us bigger digits instead.
#36
I've got what looks like exactly the same watch, it's virtually indestructible and I've used it every day for years including going swimming when on holiday etc by the time battery needs changing I think I'll just get a new watch, I'm amazed after all these years the design hasn't changed

Sensible talking there Ro53ben. To be honest, I'd want these as standard. Otherwise - get me a £7.99 job off of ebay.

Destroyed 7 watches in my job, many of them in first or second week of wearing. I have G-shock for 6 years with no issues. That's why u buy G-shocks. Not for sonar, remote control or period calendar.

Well for the jubilee line you don't need a watch that displays minutes just hours is fine...
