Gaggia sold the Cubika espresso machine from 2004. It was designed as a small home model with "many of the features from a top end espresso machine":
* Traditional Frother
* Side Filling removable Water Tank
* Aluminium Alloy Filter Holder
* 700 Watt Power
* 15 bar Pump
* Large Cup Warmer
* Brushed Stainless Steel Body
* Can be used with pods or ground coffee
Gaggia are selling reconditioned Cubika espresso machines on their WWW site for £79 plus £7.50 for delivery. I've just received one.
They used to sell for an RRP of ~ £180-200. The Amazon reviews praised the quality of the coffee. However, there was a problem with the on-off switches. I asked about this when I ordered the machine, and this is a problem that has been fixed.
The box and instruction book definitely look second hand. However, the accessories like the plate on the top and where the cups sit are brand new, and the filters all look to be new.
I've use a few other sub £100 espresso machines, and this one has a more robust feel, with less plastic and more metal. The milk steamer has a decent amount of power, unlike some of the other machines that I've tried.
