Was in Matalan Southampton today and saw about 8 of these machines in a pack with 50 free coffee capsules, reduced from £139 to £85 then half price to £42.50. This is a "pod*" type coffee machine so might not be to purists tastes (including my wife unfortunately!) but seems like a good deal (the same machine with 20 capsules is £99 in Whittards about 10 shops down the arcade). The capsules are available in all Whittard shops for £2.50 for 10 or £6.50 for 30, and come in a range of coffee styles.

Forgot to mention originally - this also has a steam nozzle so you can still froth your milk up to make cappucinos the authentic way :)

*Third Edit! Just found out that there's a difference between pods and the "ECaffe Capsules" that this machine takes...these each have 8g (apparently the optimum amount per cup) of coffee in"...more information here: http://www.gaggia.uk.com/k111.htm and here: http://www.gaggia.uk.com/coffeepage.htm

Good price for a capsule machine, although the price of capsules soon adds up.

At around 20-25p for an 8g capsule, the cost soon starts to add up.

I've got a bean-to-cup machine myself. Expensive to start with (and rather noisy!!) but the coffee is great!!

I had a look at the pods used in this and wondered where refills were available from as they seem to a different shape to the normal either Senseo or Tassimmo ones.

Half price is v.good though.

Advertised in Matalan as being available at all Whittard stores...so I went down the mall and had a look, Whittard sell several Gaggia Caffitaly machines so this one at least (and it's a small one) sold the Ecaffe pods, £2.50 for 10 or £6.50 for 30...looking on t'internet this seems to be the going rate :)

25p for something that will cost you £2-3 on the high street seems like a pretty good deal to me.

And Gaggia is a good name for coffee machines. Ive got one of the normal ones . bit fiddly but the coffee is ACE:thumbsup:

Build feels a bit cheep for a gaggia, made almost entirely of plastic. Loud too, don't know if that's normal (maybe someone could advise?).

Makes a very nice coffee though, which is what it's all about

Thanks to the OP, very good price.

I would prefer to but one of the machines that doesn't use capsules. Can anyone out there advise me of the machine to get (for cappuccino, late and espresso) and the place to buy?

I've been lookin at machines for some time and the confusion (pods, sachets, tassimos, beans etc...)has stopped me buying one.

UNTIL...

a few threads ago => Flavia (for £50 discount.

Have had coffe and hot choc form these machines and boy are they good!

I have now ordered myself one, and would highly recommend you too!!! As these do Teas, coffees, hot choc, fusion teas, indulgents etc....have a look at theie website.

AND DONT FORGET TO LOOK AT PREVIOUS OFFERS FOR £50 off, thats cheaper than ebay!

:-D

Not sure if I'm allowed to post a new deal, but this seems to be back in stock in Matalan Southampton (they'd run out by the beginning of Feb)...same price, and still with the 50 free pods. I actually bought one this time (there are now 3 left) and the earliest best before in the coffee pods is August (most are November)...
