Hot for me, good find

What size of PSU would this require?
I have a Coolermaster 460w

Well, they recommend a minimum of 450W so looks like you're in luck. That Coolermaster PSU is a quality branded one so it should have no problem coping with the 4850.

Great price/performance ratio!

Have a 4850 (different brand) has served me well so far in all games, nothing has really made it struggle as of yet. Good find, although I paid £110 for mine back in september so they haven't dropped in price much!

Well, this is the Golden Sample version which has considerably higher clocks than the standard card. This card would normally cost £10+ more than the standard card.

Check out the ATI Radeon 4770 here
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B00279ONJQ/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&qid=1241721259&sr=8-1&condition=new

All benchmarks give this more or less 4850 performance for prices starting at £79 including VATand delivery as well as significantly lower power consumption compared to 4850 / 4870

personally i wouldnt buy a gainward card, every one ive had has broken before the warranty ended. but thats just me

Has this got VGA on it?
#9
Probably not, but I think some cards are packaged with a VGA to DVI converter. I may be wrong though. You can pick these up on ebay for about 99p anyway.

I have a different branded HD 4850 purchased from Ebuyer for £111. Excellent value for money, been playing Fallout 3 it looks stunning.

The 4770 is a cracking card for the price, and even better value if you buy 2 and SLI them! Usefully faster than a HD4890 and GTX260 (216) in this configuration, and less power consumption than either!

hi everyone, can someone recommend a cheap, low power dual output pcie card please? It doesnt have to be anything spectaular - I just want to be able to use two VGA displays with it and I'm not really a gamer. I use my PC for making music but I've never had dual displays before. If you have recommendations or maybe if you have one for sale please post

Many thanks in advance.

I have a 4850 it has 2 x DVI not sure about this brand though would like to Crossfire but need a GeoCube brand! :x
#14
You don't need the same brand or even the same card to Crossfire. Any 4850 will do. The only thing is that if the cards have different clock speeds, the faster one will be clocked down to match the lower speeds.

I'm afraid I haven't got an specific reccomendations for you but if you're not gaming then the cheapest dual output graphics card will do fine. Play.com are good for low-end card so that might be a good place to start looking.

Almost any modern card will do the job, I've been running dual screens on an old NVIDIA 7600GS on one PC for the last couple of years and it works very well for CAD,. programming and the odd bit of light gaming (definitely not a powerful card though). You could pick up one of them for peanuts on ebay, but if you want to buy new something like a, ATI HD 4350 would be a good choice since it uses passive cooling so will be nice and quiet.
