I did it intentionally, as when I posted this...

http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3601913

...some people were questioning the safety of Poundland products.

As they are one of the larger chains in the UK, and as they sell the exact same products as other people - only for a pound, I felt I should post a few more things to show this point.

Its quite pathetic when on a site that shows good deals, some people bring in an element of snobbery to the forum, and claim goods will be defective due to the low prices.

I am going there tomorrow, for some timers, screen deicer, tree decorations, Nik Nak crisps, paper and crayons for the kids, and to check out the spec of the antifreeze they are selling that is about 30% of (not 'off') the price elsewhere.

Its also worth mentioning they have far more in the shops than appears on the site, the best saving I have had so far was a bike tool that was £12 in Wiggle or Evans, for £1, although savings like this are not uncommon.

So well spotted for noticing the trend!

Poundland is as safe as any other top retailer in the country otherwise they would be closed along time ago.
Funny enough they seem to be expanding so the demands defnitely there.

My brother's eyesight is making it difficult for him to read now. Its pretty normal as he is mid 40s so it's presbyopia, which affects virtually everyone in their early 40s unless they were originally nearsighted. Presbyopia only makes it difficult to focus close up, and distance vision (even sometimes as close as PC screens) normally remains fine or little bothered.

None of us have been able to get him to visit an optician as he is "too busy".

Poundland sells reading glasses with lenses from 1.5 to about 3 for the eponymous price.

I intend to buy a set of each of the glasses and get him to try them, to convince him the problem can be easily fixed. Hopefully when he sees a pair of £1 glasses can make him read again - he can get a proper eye check for a prescription, and get the entirely correct lenses, as I am sure Poundland only works in 0.5 increments, whereas prescriptions in the UK for reading distance increment by 0.25.

I think this has got to be the best use of a budget price shop.

i bought these a few months ago, they always seem to have lots of these, so do the 99p store! and the cadburys hot chocolate! and sometimes highlights! yummy, :D all the supermarkets ive been to dont sell hot chocolate for under £2!! only the single sachets! so great price if you have a 99pstore or poundland near u. also they dont expire till later next yr either! so not gone off ones or about to expire lol.

yep that is very true, there was never a poundland near me over about 2yrs ago, only one i knew was in london, now there is one in every highstreet near me-kent/bromley! well a poundland or 99p store, they're so good!! there was a bag in new eltham once priced up as £12 from george or somewhere and it was a £1!! bargain! all sorts of people shop there, saw a man in a suit once grabbing a bargain :) something for everyone! :) why pay more if you can pay less. they even do deals sometimes, like 2 colgate toothpastes for a £1! they sell hollywood smile whitener tooth polish for £1 same size as the ones in boots that are selling at £4.50!

Ohh I Love This!
Good Price Too, I Always Pick It Up When I See It
However I Do Find That You Use A LOT Of Powder In One Cup
Otherwise It Just Tastes Watery.

Watch carefully on some of this stuff - some of the Galaxy has the Hydrogenated Vegetable Fat in it - the stuff that's hideous and v bad for you!

I think it tends to be in the sachets rather than the large containers, but still, best to check imo :)

On the positive side though it's one of the nicest hot chocs out there :D

Be careful when buying food products from cheap shops as if you look at the ingredient labels closely you will see that they are different to what seems the same products in the supermarket.

?? because they package products especially for the pound shop at prices cheaper than the main supermarkets who buy in larger quantities and sell at higher mark ups ?

wd40 ??
niknak crisps ??
mars bars ??

dont talk rubbish.

Bought one in Tesco's the other week to try as it was reduced to £1.65 - now back to over £2.
Nice drink. Label states: 'Hydrogenated Coconut Fat'
The one I bought is 400g size - so check the size and also the Best Before date...

They also sell the Malteser drink too! Mmmmmm
#19
well the galazy choc looks identical to the one in the supermarkets so sure theyl have the same ingredients! if they sell it it cant be that bad for u! same as everything else that is bad for you, chips, curries, salt, coffee, just take it all in proportion thats all.

:/ it's the hydrogenation that's the issue as far as I am aware.

As for the person who reckons its rubbish that pound shop food will be different to supermarket food - I reckon that can and is the case in some circumstances - they can source it from different countries which have different rules and tastes. (Like the dodgy Stella you get with Egyptian writing on parts of the can from corner shops lol)

Don't have one that near me though, so it's been a while since I've been in one!

Damn, I want hot chocolate now lol
#24
yeh but the hot chocolates from the pound shops are genuine, totally uk exactly same as what is sold in supermarkets, no egyptian/other language writing on it, all english, just sold cheaper since supermarkets rip us off. ive bought the hot chocolates from there loads over the past year, the cadburys highlights one, the galazy one, the normal cadburys hot chocolate one, plus tetley 100 tea bags and nothing bad has happened to me! they wouldnt sell them in shops of people wouldnt buy galaxy hot choc if it was that bad for u.
