Hello , please go easy as I haven't posted many!! Well tonight I went to the gym and made a trip to tesco on my way back as I am off to see my parents in aussi on Friday and they wanted some chocolate as they put stuff in the choc to stop it melting and it just doesn't taste the same!! And I came across the galaxy chocolate section as I noticed they were reduced to £1 per bar and a 153g box of individually wrapped (similar to the look of caramel barrels from quality street ) galaxy caramel chocs caught my eye , as I picked them up the sign said reduced to 1p !! I almost wet my self and then thought it was a mistake do took the chocs to the till with the ticket thing ( as I didnt want them to faff about for ages) and they just scanned it in no probs and it came up on the till as 1p !!!!!!! I was in my element however that was short lived as they only had 3 boxes :( not sure if this is nationwide/ a mistake or just a coincidence but good luck :) will post my reciept tomoro if ppl dnt believe me or need extra proof and all that jazz !! Xxxx

Did you take all 3 boxes? If not then might be worth mentioning which store so the locals can grab some

Regardless - the Ozzie chocolate thing is SO TRUE! Cadburys tastes disgusting out there, nothing like English Cadburys. Having said that though, with all the fresh fruit and veg out there, it doesn't really matter!

You lucky git!

You'll be needing to return to the gym after them choccies.

for refernce you cant import (by that i mean even have one piece on your person)any food stuffs into australia not even chewing gum let alone chocolate without a permit.

They have sniffer dogs at the airport and you risk a fine if you dont dump in the amnesty bin (if they still have them)
so I honestly wouldn't take it off the plane to be honest.

Hot deal though ;)

LOL had completely forgotten that - my old Nan got in trouble with some easter eggs a few years back as she had completely forgetten she had even packed them!
I had to chuck a few packs of "frazzels" away the last time I went:x

We brought several BOXES packed with chocolate into Australia with no problem before. Should point out it was in 2001, I take it things have changed?
#14
been to aus every year but 2 for the last 17 years

the sniffer dogs (little basset things) are mainly trained for fruit and veg to prevent bugs and flys

I always take a large box of pg tips and tick food on the landing card and go through something to declare lane which is as plus as everyone else is being searched in the nothing to declare lane

I also take 1000 silk cut ultra as they only sell them by the 1000 at heathrow so 400 for me 400 my partner 200 over the limit but they always say 800 is the max so i explain it is a box of 1000 (5 cartons) dont sell smaller they can take 200 if they want but they always say you can keep them this time but dont do it again as we cant take 200 we have to take all 1000 from you.

we post cadburys to our friends in aus and write chocolate on the customes sticker and it always gets delivered.

so if you are honest you should be ok.

we once met a lady in the hotel who went through nothing to declare and the guy took her landing card and said are you sure you are not importing food she said no food that is why the card is blank he asked he again twice more. he then said what is that in your mouth then. she said it's a tik- tak he said well then you are importing food arent you she said are you takeing the **** he said do you want me to put you on a flight back to NZ

You can take food to aussi if u declare it at the airport :) !! Have done it several times :) and so have my family !! I thought that I couldn't at first and was panicking cus I have a baby and took his formula feeds over , and a women who worked in the airport said as long as you declare your food they don't mind :) ( as long as it in applies within the guidelines I.e no poultry or dairy etc ) luckily choc isn't counted as dairy xx

Sod the locals, they should get out and about and find their own bargains. Good for you mate, I would have grabbed the lot as well!

Went to Australia last year and took food in with us. You can't take any fruit and they are totally hyped up by bananas. Their concern is for insects/ dirt for possible bug contamination so fresh produce is different. However if you declare other food and it's small amounts of a commercial product for personal consumption you'll probably be OK. They were far more concerned about the medication we had with us, even though it was all prescription stuff.
#21
Yeah, you can take chocolate through, so long as you declare it on your customs form.

Saying that, I went to Perth for Christmas, and had some presents wrapped up in my suitcase - a couple of them being selection boxes... which I forgot about whilst filling out the customs form. They came up on the x-ray, and I had my suitcase searched and asked about, but the woman let me through with them anyway, after the "you must declare them next time" spiel.

forgot to say its also possible to buy chocolate in America that is imported from the UK. However aero is the only one you'll see in ordinary supermarkets there.
#23
How did we get talking about Australia??
#24
Thanks for taking the time and effort to post this.
Will probably be store specific but have some heat :)

Because the OP has it in his post - about his parents and aussie etc. Someone actually took the time to read the whole thing and picked it out!

my daughter had her tea bags confiscated at the airport in Oz, she should have taken choc instead!

This is actually a useful tip. I never realised the yellow labels were store specific. I'm gutted not to get Galaxy at such a bargain, although probably just as well as chocolate is a dieters nightmare.
By the way someone mentioned something about Cadbury's. Galaxy aren't produced by Cadbury's

why were he tea bags confiscated. I take a large box of PG TIPS every year.

if they took them because she did not declare them on her landing card the same thing would have happened if she had taken chocolate.

we sent boat loads of really bad people out there to breed with each other and most of them did ok so cant really complain if a few of them have a attitude problem. could have turned out a lot worse.
