Hot from me, hopefully national.
#2
not in my local asda, gutted :(
#3
I assume that's the previous model (speakers either side of the screen?)

If so, 1.4Ghz quad, 2GB RAM and 1280*800 panel?

Bargin. Have this and newer 2014 edition. The interface for not making is revolutionary. mI make notes etc and save to PDF to print and cloud access.

Rumoured 2015 edition.

anywhere in Birmingham guys?
#6
It's still a respectable tablet despite its age, wish my local Asda ever had good deals.
#7
Had one of these since launch and still going strong, heat from me OP
#8
Not national its £189 in my asda. If its a markdown sticker or red sale sticker its usually exclusive to that store as its been done instore not an actual price change.

Link to argos?

Link to argos?

It _was_ linking to Asda earlier on (though to their groceries homepage)

Probably an admin or bot changing it (incorrectly) to insert an affiliate link.

heat

£189 online and out of stock. Might be store specific... might not be though. Have to wait till morning now to find out.

Same here. I upgrade my phone at least once a year, but have had this well over 2 years now with no real need to upgrade. The ability to use flash in desktop versions of websites (and see videos) is a plus of this tablet compared to one's with newer android

Got it in £169 in instore Black friday sale from Asda.. 160 is damm good if you get it.

I noticed an offer for about this price for a Galaxy note 10 inch tablet at a Tesco near where I am staying. How can you tell which modle it is to compare to this deal?

Same price from Asda on black Friday. I bought one then. Tip - it comes with Android 4.1 but Samsung released 4.4 earlier this year for it but you cannot upgrade over wifi.... You must download Kies 2.0 software on your PC and update the firmware this way :)
#20
does this play games ok or do they lag or not work compared to some past tablets ive had that ok was quite cheap and sumvision i think...

huge thanks for any help and heat added

goose chase for the sake of only 39 quid off
#22
A good price! Only if you manage to get one near you...
#23
Check out Tesco as they have been selling these for £149 for a few weeks now. I'd have gone Tesco but I'd already bought one from Asda on black Friday

Is this a straight forward process? I want to upgrade the firmware but seems like they have made a lot of unnecessary faff to do so
#25
Tesco don't have any, tried eleven different stores. Tried 5 different Asda stores no luck.
#26
How many were there in Aberdare please op?

It is. It's just that most people (including myself) forget that Samsung have the Kies software and all major upgrades have to be done via Kies.
I was so frustrated that my son's MiP robot that he got for Christmas didn't work with his new tablet and was only compatible with Android 4.3 onwards but was so pleased that there was an upgrade available via Kies.

Good deal but have tried every where within a 50 mile radius, one tesco store told me they had four in stock got there 10 mins later and they had strangely disappeared .Dont ring and check you will only tip off staff who remember get a 10 per cent discount.

Great find :) have some heat
But no stock in my local store at Farnborough

Rule 1 - Do not call stores to ask wether they have stock, under any circumstances! The moment you do, you might as well as consider them out of stock, even if they had 50, because staff will take them and then lie to your face, when you turn up all bright eyed and bushey tailed.

Save your minutes and take a trip down if you really want this. In my early days of bargin hunting was scammed like this several times, with staff looking at each other with that smirk and denying all knowledge. Many here have experienced that look and will undertstand what I mean.

One thing I definitely don't miss about the Note N-7000 GT is Samsung Kies. An utterly horrible piece of software.

This is a good tablet for the price, though.

As a former retail employee you better believe we do things like this. Epically after dealing with the pre-xmas BS and now into the season of "I got this for a present, opened it, used it, my dog ate the box AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN I CANT GET A FULL REFUND MANAGER NOW!!!!11111!!!one!!11!" it's nice to get a head start on some proper bargains.

I have worked in retail years ago and understand the stresses that front line customer service brings and yes it is nice as a perk of the job to get ahead on the bargins. However, saying all of that, we at least had intergrity and if a customer phoned up and asked if a item was in stock and it was a bargin and there was enough to go around, we all would buy 1 and at least make sure that there was stock for the customer that called. To many times there has been enough stock that has mysteriously disappeared and then ends up on ebay. Its great when you get a bargin, it's another when you lie to customers that there is no stock and then sell it on ebay to make a small profit. Staff who are caught doing that, should be fired. Your are paid to ensure that the customer has got what he requested, especially if they phoned in advance and confirmed there was enough stock. Any staff caught buying in bulk and selling on ebay after denying over the phone that there is stock, is lying and should be fired.

There's perks and there's taking the ****!

Years ago you could make a career out of it. Nowadays its minimum wage, zero guaranteed hours licking the boots of a very entitled public that expect the moon and somehow think that treating shop worker like crap will get them better service.

If you chase the cheapest price (lets face it that's what we're all doing on this site) don't be surprised when service level drops because it's not the suits getting cut.

I totally agree but it's essential for upgrading firmware.

The recent Aldi 10" tablet seems good.
