LOL, even though I posted this Galaxy tab deal, I wouldn't buy either this or the Advent(_;)

I just posted as it was the cheapest I had seen it.

Not really tbh, Thats like comparing an iPhone to an iPod.
Both very similar but both very different!

No comparison to be honest. If you forget about the fact that they are aimed at two different markets, the Tab is infinitely more polished and better built. The screen on the vega is very bad, the OS is not as stable on it as is on the Tab, and apps just generally run better on the Tab. The specs are better on the Vega but the software just doesnt match up at all I am afraid.

wow, this is hot!!!

those specks are fake. duh

Outdated tablet, not worth the money now when next gens are around the corner...
#11
Looks like a good deal if you are specifically after a Galaxy Tab but I'm holding onto my cash for the iPad 2, its going to be a couple of months away but leaked specs and thanks to competition from Samsung and others suggests it could be something special!
#12
Did anyone else spot the Advent is powered by the new Tegra 2 processor? That alone would make it the better buy - high-speed, dual-core tablet computing!

Agree, but the marketing can't be faulted.

I bet you never buy anything!

Either adopt early or wait for improved revisions. No point buying things at the end of their cycle.

True. An excellent product becomes obsolete the instant its replacement is announced. Just like the Galaxy Tab, all iPads are now utterly useless because iPad 2 will be with us in a few months.

I didn't say useless. I said it's not worth it now. Big difference smartass.

Once the new generation of tablets hit next month with improved specs and crucially, HONEYCOMB, this, being a mass-produced Samsung, will drop in price to probably less than half of what it is today. It's already dropped almost half price since release. Therefore, not worth it to purchase now. If you have deep pockets, wait for the new breeds and add a bit more to get much more. If you don't, also wait as this will drop in price heavily.

Similarly the iPad, which I do prefer. It'd be stupid to go out and buy one now with new ones around the corner. Doesn't mean iPad 1 (or Tab) is useless, just not worth nearing the end of it's cycle. Same logic as above..

Alternatively, it still does what it did when it was first released, and people's eagerness for the latest and greatest means that the price of the slightly older models will be reduced as apparently it has been here.

Edit:
all iPads are now utterly useless because iPad 2 will be with us in a few months.
You're not being serious, surely? Any piece of consumer electronics will obviously be superceded in a year or two at most, so I tend to agree with guv's comment - by your logic you'd never buy anything.

Made me laugh......write "non-flash" on it, then everyone will think it's cool, like the iPad - that's non-flash, too :)

Exactly. +1

Next Gen tablets like the Xoom are priced around $700, which is likely to mean around £600 here. So that's the same price that the Galaxy started at, so wait for summer when prices might drop?

you think the new 1's will be this price?

some people can handle having second rate equipment when the premium comes off.....id imagine there will be some more if not better deals on all these tablets about to be superceeded.

waiting for the asus offerings myself

been using advent vega since its launch a well underated device, if it has the 3g module it would put galaxy tab to shame (this can be solve if you have a mifi or android phone). The cpu in advent vega, which is a tegra 2 is so advance, take in consideration it is launch 2 months ago, at that point of time nothing has such spec except the toshiba tablet, which is 3-4 times as much. And tegra 2 chips is going to be a trend this year after all this tegra 2 base tablet and phones appeared in ces. At this point of time offically it doesnt has a flash but this can be added to it. You will not be satisfied with what is out of the box, just mod it all it takes is only 15 mins. And you have a piece of advance tech on your hands!

As a web browser I get these, but until them come close to £100 I really can't see the point.

I got the Advent for £220, hacked it from Modaco added the performance pack and now I have a tablet with the Android market available, faster than other tablets, camera available (never use though) and you can also use the USB port to plug in any external device including Bluetooth GPS receivers, external drives, etc.

I haven't used the Galaxy but I rate mine better than the Ipad for functionality and price.

Thats not why they wrote non flash. Its because it was released with flash and then the later revisions did not, so they had to state it to avoid confusion.

Apology accepted. (_;) On this sort of forum people's intent is far from obvious both because of being text-based (hence the emoticon) and because you get all sorts.

This looks extraordinary! Any idea on the price or actual release date??

Lowest price I've ever seen the Galaxy Tab, and indeed it is a very good tablet. However, it's also one of the most disappointingly over-priced tech products of all time!
