Thinking of upgrading your old 360 to a shiny new Xbox 360 S next month? GAME's got you covered.

The UK retailer has announced a list of trade-in offers available in store that should help spending out on the upgrade more bearable.

The list is as follows, with the price you see the price you pay when you trade in the appropriate console:

XBOX 360 ELITE £99.99

XBOX 360 60GB PRO £119.99

XBOX 360 20GB PRO £139.99

PS3 SLIM 120 GB £24.99

PS3 80GB £59.99

PS3 40GB £69.99

NINTENDO Wii £124.99

GAME's also taking pre-orders for the new Xbox 360 S over on its website, which you can access by clicking the link to your right

The new console, which doesn't appear to be available in any bundles, retails at £199.99 and features integrated wireless 802.11n WiFi and a 250GB hard drive.

It launches in Europe on July 16th.

It's still free to play online. It's a premium service, extra features added, but you don't need to subscribe to play online.

#8
Apart from the integrated wifi, what's new?

New design, touch sensitive eject / power button (think original PS3s), that's it I think.

Purple ring of death

Might get one down the line
#11
Really pointless imo. £100 for a wifi that can be purchased for £30 and quiter drive that is only really useful when watching movies is pretty vague for me. Would have expected more from Microsoft, still heat added as I don't think any other shops are doing any trade ins. Goddamn Game always milking the public.

Slimmer, quieter, 250gb HDD (yes, the super elites have it too but shush).

Not a quantum leap, but then the PS3 slim is no different to the fat version either...
#13
I'm doing it - in game/gamestation/hmv, all offering 70 quid for my 20 gig premium, but I still think the trade in prices are crap, but so are the prices on ebay so it may be worth doing. selling my wireless adapter on ebay though

But isnt that only upto 16GB or summit??? i suppose it will be all you would need for Game Data as Game installations are easy enough done
#16
Prices seem a right rip off to me.
#17
um... nobody seems to be mentioning the fact that the colossal failure rate of the regular 360 was in part to do with the fact that there wasn't enough space in the box for appropriately sized heatsinks.
and now everyone's going nuts for the shiny new 360.

which is smaller.
and slimmer.
and will have even tinier heatsinks..

am i the only person seeing the potential issue here ? :?

Tech gets smaller and more efficient over time. MS must of thought that tech needed is now good enough and small enough to fit in this case. Not like they are using same specs as the older consoles.

EDIT: Read it wrong

Won't be getting one anyway, whats the point? Wifi? Whoopty-do. Touch buttons? No thanks. 250GB? Got one. ****** Black Gloss Fingerprint Heaven? I don't think so.

All that is up in the air at the moment.

The Slim will user a 45nm achitecture which will consume less power and produce less heat. Plus the internal cooling is much more efficient.

That being said, I'll be waiting until around Christmas before I decide if I want to 'upgrade' as all faults should be known by then and we'll get some better deals!
#21
Why are they offering more for a 20gb pro than a 60gb pro? That makes no sense

EDIT: Ignore that, i read it wrong

ok, yes some of the components are more efficient & therefore cooler, but the base materials used to construct things like heatsinks haven't changed at all, and if the older larger heatsink couldn't cope with the hotter less efficient chips, who's to say the much smaller slimmer heatsinks will be able to cope with even the newer chips ?

i'm just saying, i'll be waiting on seeing whether my online buddy's are on box no. 5 six months in like they were when the 360 came out first...

Are they for real on the 20gb Pro Xbox 360, I sold my 20gb Xbox 360 2 months ago, I would have waited got the trade in value and add £60 quid of my own money and bought the new Xbox 360 Slim.

Thanks for reminding me about compatibility.
I am posting on loads of forums telling people about how to get data on to the new 360 but not about USB stick compatibility.

Trying to get me a cheap 4+ GB on the net but no luck yet.
#30
when's it released? and what about the stuff saved on the hd you trade in?

you are 100% correct i jsut wish every1 else did some research

Same here:thumbsup:, sick n tired at some of my mates making silly comments about how I've apparently got to pay to play online on PS3s now

As for the new xbox 360, I really like it's new design, it may get a lot of finger marks on it but....cannot....resist...shiny objects.........
I have a 60gb pro so £120 if I want one.......hmmmm....we'll see!
#33
Does it come with a blu ray drive?
#34
game and hmv were offering £110 for the elite yday
#35
Do you think they will accept one with RROD?
#36
it says it comes ready for kinect straight from the box, what does that mean? the 360's we have now wont be able to use kinect?
#37
hmmm no trade in for 60gb ps3, probably just as well as i know it doesn't make financial sense to swap to a 360.

The new 360 can powe the kinect add-on via a socket on the back of the machine, when kinect is used on the current 360 you need a seperate power lead.

I think Kinect has to be synced with the old models, but the the new "Slim" 360 has a port specifically for Kinect and will do it automatically.
