GAME this week have downgraded all most of there pre-owned XBOX360 games. For example all those games that were £7.98 are now £4.98. I have checked both GAME in my hometown, and GAME in the trafford centre. There are some great prices to be had, many beating Play.com and Gamestation.

Get down to GAME.co.uk for some cheap titles, dont forget the £5 of a £30 purchase voucher too, and your GAME Reward Card.

I noticed this last night at the Trafford Centre, but I was looking at the PS3 games.

There seems to be a bit of a difference between all the branches though. The two in the Mall had different offers to the branch inside Selfridges - I guess it depends what they have is stock

I'd suggest checking all three.

Paul.

Have some heat & rep for thinking of the community - I forgot to post!

I have never bought a pre-owned game from game yet, the fact that they try selling one or two for more than retail makes me sick.

Although I will take a look cheers rep added
#3
Thanks for the heads up BigP. I will look today.

Never seen a decent price on any preowned game in game, so I wont bother making the trip into town for this one. Perhaps at my own loss, perhaps not.

Much prefer a quick browse in Blockbuster - most preowned games there are decently priced from the start.
#5
why does the trafford centre need 3 game stores!
#6
Last time i went in GAME i picked up a copy of World at War, telling the missus that pre-owned is a rip off.

When i got to the counter the guy managed to sell me a pre-owned copy as it was £8 cheaper than new - and he went through every copy making sure i had the best one! It's as good as new. The only way you would tell is that it's not sealed in cellophane.

So i'm a new convert!
#7
Thanks! Great tip, I live on a tight budgets and pre owned games are my thing!
#8
Miss the golden years of preowned. These days you get pittance for your titles and everything they sell is overpriced.
If they happen to be selling Rock Band 1 or 2 at a decent price i'll consider popping down.

I assume this is to clear shelf space for Christmas merchandise.
banned#9
Yep, it's the traditional clearout before the new hardware and titles bonanza. Everyone will be trading-in for Xmas and there's no room in the back. Just insist on seeing the disc first and if the disc is a bit poo, then have them clean if for free before you buy, and it's still guaranteed so you can return it.

So what games are people actually picking up for these prices given that this is being quoted as 'Hot' ?

As they're £7.98 games are usually crap and hence you're still getting a crap game for £4.98 aren't you?
#11
I noticed this in the two stores in Eldon Square, Newcastle. The only game that stood out as a good offer was Halo Wars for ~ £13. They had both the standard and tin edition at this price too.

what is the £5 of a £30 purchase voucher
#13
Might go for a wee look....Post any good ones that you find.
On a side note, do Blockbuster give you cash and trade in value on games? Thanks.

Dead Space for 4.98 would be nice

Indeed it would. Although I got it for the PC the other day it feels like my laptop is about to combust when I play it. CPU and graphic card being pushed to 100%, but hardly using any RAM. Normally only have this issue when I overclock the graphic card too much.

So does anyone actually know a single price for anything at all?

So far it's just spam.
#17
They seem to have reduced some new game titles too not just preowned. For instance I have just bought Batman Arkham Asylum for the Xbox 360 for my Nephew for £22.99 with free delivery. This is much cheaper than anywhere else I can find. When I looked last week this was around the £35 mark. I have been after this for a while so I'm well chuffed :)

Quoted for emphasis.

Amazing how people will vote this hot without any evidence that the prices are any good.
It's like having a deal posted that Asda are 'rolling back prices' on innominate items.

Edit:

FIFA 09 £4.99
Halo Wars £12.99
Resident Evil 5 £17.99

Thanks, have some rep.

All those products can be gotten cheaper on a certain auction site though so I still don't feel this deal is hot enough for a vote.

In GAME's defence, it is the closest console selling shop to me, others are quite a distance, and whenever I've popped in to get presents and that some items are resonabally priced, but you have to look hard, as there is a lot of overprices c**p in there!

Cheers, will pop over and have a look :)

Blockbuster used to be great for pre-owned near me in chorlton but now they are getting like game!

I think the last 3-4 times I have been in I have walked out shaking my head at the prices. I know the prices should be the same but I am sure the lads don't change the prices :whistling:

18 months ago plus blockbuster had great trade prices now they are pretty pants, though they will price match now.

Buying 2nd hand blockbusters does have the best deals.

I tend to get gamestation to price match cex now though for store credit to use on hardware or new titles...

Yeah,overall....Game sucks.
They really don't care about anything but money, lol
I used to work in Game and its like the company has no passion towards what they're selling at all..'eff it,make it £30...someone will buy it'
#34
Bought Halo Wars Limited Ed for £12.98. Cheers!

yeah thats true, lol, but at least when u go into hmv...or gamestation, they feel like a music shop and a game shop, game feels like a 'we dont care about games..we just have them here shop'
I guess im just against game cos i worked for them, they're the uwe boll of the video game stores, lol.
When i worked at Game my old boss used to know eff all about anything game related and then when a little kid would come up with a guff game like Hugo she would tell him it was the best game ever so he would buy it,lol.

Hmmm no limited edition Prince of Persia's in my local game (Swansea City Centre), only the standard version which was also priced at £7.98.

I also noticed Gears of War Limited Edition (tin packaging) (Xbox 360) for £7.98.
